Curry and chips, nice

Yes, but unfortunately not very Chinese! :eyebrows:
Not that it matters. I'm sure that Roy enjoyed it all
Marco.
Curry and Chips reminds me of this:

And living in Sheffield for a while, Curry and Chips from the Chippy was very popular in the 70's
I had a quiche with a baked potato, and a nice glass of Provence Rose. Alright, two glasses if we're being pedantic.
Pappardelle pasta with a beef, tomato and red wine sauce topped with Parmesan cheese and parsley. LOVELY

Will be doing a bake with chicken, brocolli, cauliflower, pasta, mushrooms and other various veg. Using a white sauce with loads of butter and a cheese crust on top.
Was a lot of cream in it and didnt want to overdo it but, yes, it would have been nice. Got to watch my cream intake. Had 2 slices of bread too with it to fill me up.
Liver and bacon, with mashed potato, steamed carrots, brocolli, sugarsnap peas and french beans.
Peach yoghourt to follow.
Had sweet n sour chicken. Needed eating date wise. I quite like it. From Lidl cheap and cheerful
Lidl's one is actually ok. So you like Chines food but not Indian? :)
Marco.
Like sweet n sour chicken, Lemon chicken too if out of a good restaurant. Good spare ribs although when I made y own they were much better. Not got the teeth for them now lol. Yes I like a few chinese dishes, a few Italian as well. Good British fayre gets unfair :eyebrows: criticism. Cooked right it can be very good too. Nowt wrong with mince and tatty:D I ight add the mince should be minced beef not ground beef as is the penchant of current butchers. Got somwe nice rough stuff today.
That's the kind of stuff I like, too. With ribs my favourites now are the salt and pepper ones.
I completely agree, but not had mince and tatties for YEARS! British produce is amongst the best in the world, but many Brits don't know how to make the most of it! ;)Quote:

Washed down with a 2014 Chateau Penin, Bordeaux Supérieur
Just making some lentil soup for tonight, don't know what is the second course, that's being brought by a lady friend. I suspect it will be rice and something, perhaps chicken. We'll see.
had steamed pots and Beef olives. gave half of it to my neighbour as he washed my car:eyebrows: would have anyway mind lol
No of course not - I'm not a bad cook, but that is way beyond my capabilities! We dined out to celebrate Happy's homecoming, and pushed the boat out a bit.
Yeah, I got that feeling, even though you didn't say... ;)
Italian restaurant, was it? Or perhaps not, as TR is classically French. Hope the fillet tenderloin was cooked to perfection, with a nice rich demi-glace sauce :)
Did they serve it with black truffles or pâté? The accompanying potatoes were hopefully either pommes fondant or dauphinoise.
Marco.
Yes it was perfect. Pâté, rather than truffles with pommes dauphinoise, so could have been a bit rich for my tastes. But as it's something only I eat occasionally, and as you don't often see it on the menu, I thought I would give it a go.
Needless to say, breakfast this morning was just a cup of coffee.
Tournedos Rossini is also something I only enjoy occasionally (haven't had it for years). In fact, I think the last time was when Del made it when you were visiting. Do you remember?
Perhaps we'll do it again, ably assisted this time by the gadgets in our new kitchen? :)
As you say, it's not something you see often because it's somewhat 'retro' (a 70s/80s classic), but I love some of that stuff, including a good Prawn Cocktail, Chicken Kiev or Steak Diane, particularly in restaurants when the latter is flambéed at the table, by the waiter! I really enjoyed it when good restaurants practiced proper Silver service. Remember that?
The same applies, in terms of flambé, with one of my favourite desserts, Crêpes Suzette:

Yum, yum!
Marco.
Pommes fondant My mum made great ones but called them fried tatties
Lol - not quite the same thing... The former is rather more indulgent, involving the liberal use of butter and chicken stock! ;)
Marco.
Yup. Ive made them like that although not all butter. Mixed it with olive oil I love them
Yeah, a veritable 'heart attack on a plate', but undeniably tasty! :)
Marco.
