There's a new chippy opened up here.
It's excellent. Brilliant chips and great batter. Had it on Monday. Didn't take any photos. Will do next time.

Nice one, Justers... Next time do take some pics:)
Given that my dad owned two chippies for over 40 years, and that he was a perfectionist, I know what a decent 'fish supper' (as we call it in Scotland) should looks like, and so often down here (in Wales or England) the fish and chips is just SHITE, and a total poor relation to what I grew up with.
But that chippy in Chester is very good. Not quite up to the standards of some of the best ones found in coastal areas of Scotland, particularly Anstruther: https://www.anstrutherfishbar.co.uk/ but close - about 85% as good!
That's why we drive 13 miles there (to the one in Chester) there and back to get it - well worth it:cool:

Hehe... Defo not. I like brown sauce and vinegar on my chips, but nothing on my fish apart from a touch of salt, so they were under *strict* instructions to prepare the chips, as mentioned, and simply place the fish on top - perfect!:)

The usual cod, mate. It was lovely, but I much prefer haddock - the default fish for frying in Scotland:)
Yeah the 'newspaper' is a nice touch.
Marco.
Had Lorne for dinner to use it and rolls up.
Not best Lorne tbh but OK.
