A Scottish friend once made stovies for me after she'd had a visit home and bought back some proper square sausage. Blood lovely, lots of butter and white pepper.
yup, i oft make it with sliced sausage and onion. occasionally put some oatmeal on top and put lid on.. enough steam to cook the oatmeal.. Just soak it in a bit of suet, salt n pepper... lovelyQuote:

Fishy thing...
Paella type thingamajig made with fresh fish stock made from prawn shells and saffron. Cod, chorizo, broad beans, celery, tomato, shallot and garlic (and a hot little dried chilli).
