I have added a few bottles ,scotch is becoming harder to get here so I grabbed the last bottle of Glenfarclas 25 on the shelf .
No projections on when we will see more come in.
Good Bourbon is going up here too.
Stocked up on stuff I like.
Tonight I am having a Wild Turkey 101 over ice.
This is a very reasonably priced high rye Bourbon, I believe it is still 10 years old but I'm sure the quality of the barrels has been sacrificed to retain low pricing.
It was a gift, I like Bourbon over ice in the summer.
I have added a few nice bottles to the cabinet.
I have become so busy 4:30 am to 10:00 pm is killing me.
After work pick up Conner and go to one or more to the following every day + church on Sunday.
Conner's Baseball,Boxing or Basketball, H.O.A. meeting or business,City Counsel meetings.
I have been doing a lot of public service stuff.
Sorry to be away so long. Home today with the shingles!
BTW: looking at the 2021-2022 Triumph Speedmaster ,anyone ride one yet?
That's pretty much whats been up with me, I'm hoping everyones been good.
opened a new bottle of this today.
its very good this.

I missed you Grant and this thread, I have been in a whirl wind of obligations.
Conner has been involved in so many sports and I am now the Vice President of our home owners association, been involved with the Union at work and working with Local city Council and the Mayor on a few things.
I have been home with shingles, it's been like coming up for air.
Enjoying a nice whiskey here and there, Had a Glennfidich 18 very nice bottle chocolate and stone fruits, very nice bottle for under $100.00.

Well one way to improve your wine, particularly red, is to make your own. Start with a fantastic Italian variety Aglianico and voila. Which is probably why I sit in front of the Westies and the bottle improves as it disappears.
Cheers Dave
Fiddich 18 is a nice dram. very classy.. Sorry to hear of your illness; ive had shingles, although i was lucky(relatively) that the tablets they gave me worked as they got it diagnosed before it got to a certain stage and it aided its quicker healing and reduced pain a bit. Even at that it wasnt nice

this again.. really good stuff
Had this bottle on display for some time. Time to open.
Port Dundas 13yr old. Cask 12465. Bottled by Douglas Laing for its Old Particular series.
This is a single grain whisky from a now closed distillery from 2009.
No longer available widely this is a superb whisky, matured in bourbon barrels and starring in creamy Toffee, some apricots and a touch of chocolate.
This is very nice but when it's gone it's gonehttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6babae14b3.jpg

some whisky i think.. nice drop this
As promised, mate, based on your fav grape varieties...
I'll comment more later on in my view the best ones to go for, (and which ones have corks lol, there are two), however bear in mind that the same grape varieties (i.e Sauvignon Blanc or Merlot) from different countries, with warmer or cooler climates, will taste *very different*!:)

Apologies for some of the blurred shots, as the pics were rushed, as some folks were wondering what the hell I was doing!:D
Marco.
Thanks very much for that Marco, I’ve had some of those before I’m sure. Some very keen prices as well, cheers!
I heard that Kylie Minogue one was ok in very small doses but became shrill, piercing and unpalatable very quickly :)
No problem, mate. The Chianti Classico Riserva (grey label at £7.75) and Trivento Malbec, at £8, I suspect will be the standout reds, along with the Jam Shed Shiraz, so would thoroughly recommend those.
In terms of white, I suspect the standouts will be the Identity Sauvignon Blanc (at £8), Squealing Pig and Lacheteau Sauv Blancs, although the Chardonnay/Pinot Grigio should also be nice (in a different way), and a bit more full-bodied than usual, because of the injection of Chardonnay.
Anyway, let me know how you get on:cool:
Marco.
Lol - that's liable to backfire, as then she'll think it's a kinky game and go into another, equally 'challenging mode', which I think you'd also struggle to handle!:eyebrows::D
Marco.
Soz for the delay, mate. Just been busy...
Okies, you should DEFO give this a go, as the grape variety is superb (normally used to partly make up French claret), but with the warmer Italian climate, it should really be a stonker (perhaps for your birthday celebration):
https://www.mccaskiebutcher.co.uk/pr...nc-la-tunella/
This is also superb value and liable to be lovely (if you enjoy claret): https://www.mccaskiebutcher.co.uk/pr...-mayne-graves/
French 'regionals' (good ones like this) always offer value for money, so this should be nice (smooth and fruity): https://www.mccaskiebutcher.co.uk/pr...ux-de-peyriac/
This should also be gorgeous and a style not often seen in UK wine outlets: https://www.mccaskiebutcher.co.uk/pr...cilia-beretta/
This also looks to be excellent value, and should be a good 'glugger': https://www.mccaskiebutcher.co.uk/pr...granacha-2017/
Portuguese reds are also seriously underrated ans this looks like a good one: https://www.mccaskiebutcher.co.uk/pr...capalha-tinto/
However, if you're willing to splash out, this should blow your mind, especially if you haven't enjoyed Pomerol before: https://www.mccaskiebutcher.co.uk/pr...gazin-pomerol/
Should be an absolute STUNNER, especially with a nice steak!
However, the Cabernet Franc I recommended first should get you 80% of the way there, for considerably less dosh. I guess it just depends how much you want that extra 20% of magic only a top-notch claret can deliver;)
As for whites, for your good lady:
This should be good: https://www.mccaskiebutcher.co.uk/pr...uvignon-blanc/
Don't be put off by the price, as there's a WORLD of difference between Sauv Blancs at this level and those half the price, in terms of a more fruit-forward nature, buttery richness and less stringent acidity.
I'm sure that the Pinot Grigio would also be very nice, as the owner of the shop, clearly knows his wines and likes to source them (rather selectively) from small, good quality vineyards: https://www.mccaskiebutcher.co.uk/pr...io-grigo-luna/
And if you fancy a slightly 'left field' choice, to rival a good Chablis (touching on Puligny Montrachet territory), this should be a stonker: https://www.mccaskiebutcher.co.uk/pr...vier-leflaive/
Hope that helps:cool:
When you've seen this post, I'll move it to the wine thread where it belongs.
Marco.
No worries, mate. Hope you enjoy them and let me know how you get on:)
Marco.
Tried a couple of your recs Marco -
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...923/Tlyr9j.jpg
Drier than I thought it would be with Chardonnay included? Think I prefer just Pinot Grigio. 6/10
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...924/eZqwpY.jpg
Delicious & fruity, really 'jammy' :) 8/10
Interesting, mate. I wasn't sure how it would go, as I don't think I've tried that combo before, so was a bit of a step into the unknown. Your comments are certainly something I'll bear in mind:)
Maybe try the Canti, PG only:
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/1...923/Qbcaoe.jpg
Gets a decent rep: https://groceries.asda.com/product/p.../1000098283606
Nice one, thought it might be!:DQuote:
Thank goodness they didn't call it 'Jam Rag'
Marco.
My 'usual' from Iceland
https://www.iceland.co.uk/p/-badia-s...ie-/76687.html
Really not a bad drop.
I guess jam rag might be popular with vampires?
Glad you enjoyed the suggested budget wines but be aware that with a £5 bottle of wine, by the time you remove the tax and duty you end up with 31p worth of wine. With a £7.50 bottle, you end up with £1.43 worth of wine.
Sure I've a bottle of that jam shed In cupboard. Must have bought it some time ago tho as I've not been in a shop
Aye, like a tampon is as a teabag!:eyebrows:
Yeah that PG looks decent. A good alternative to Pinot Grigio is Vermentino, which is more golden in colour, richer and fruitier, but not drier. Still nice and crisp though, and ideal chilled for summer glugging!
If you've got an Aldi near you, this is very good for the money: https://www.aldi.co.uk/pierre-jauran...09970468242600
Ignore the fact that it's French!:D Seriously though, both countries can handle each other's grape varieties with considerable aplomb. Pinot Grigio is the same as Pinot Gris.
There are loads of interesting Italian white grape varieties, which have lots to offer over the 'usual suspects'. Trebbiano and Vernaccia are two others.
Marco.
Just found it. 2019 shiraz.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...5016ae45c6.jpg
What's the alcohol content - something like 13.5% (typical Shiraz)? It *could* still be ok, given the higher alcohol content, as opposed to the 11-12.5% of other table wines. but it's needs drinking now or using in cooking!:)
Marco.
yeah 2019 and 13.5% by vol. been stored cool tho that cupboard is on an outside wall. i will use it in a couple of meals and have a couple of glsses too. ive still got some of that batch i showed you a year or 2 ago lol. it was higher class tho
Yeah, if it's still for sale, I'd like to buy it from you when I come up next time:)
Marco.
hey if there is any left u can have it.
Very kind of you, mate. However, if I remember there were a couple of quality clarets in there (among other things), so it would be more prudent to swap you for a nice whisky, or are you just trying to sook up to Del more?:eyebrows:
Marco.
dont think there are that many left tbh 3 of 4.. also some champers/bubbly not sure which. i likely wont drink it.
Glengoyne 10.
Ive had this for a good few years, so time I drank it.
Yarr[emoji23]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bc08d6397f.jpg
Fresh floral, malty, apples and some nuttiness. quite well balanced with a little sweetness finishing in a shortish malty and spicy finish. very nice for age and price.
New opening day.. Had this for a good while.
An 11 year old Royal Brackla bottled by Signatory for their vintage range in 2009.
Butter shortbread, malt and vanilla in this. Not dry and finish is fairly mild but very nice too. Some nuts in there too.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ea2aabbc9a.jpg
I've been awaiting a special occasion to open this but one won t come so I'm gonna have it before someone else gets it..
Glen Grant 18 yr old.
One of the really great whiskies made by any distillery.
Stunning dram this, full of sweet vanilla, nuts and malty goodness.
It's so well balanced this. Every whisky drinker should try it at least once.
I haven't tasted this since it was launched years ago and I had one in a whisky bar. Think it was on royal Mile.
Anyway this is bloody beautiful.

Never mind this whisky cack, have you bought any of those wines from your butcher I recommended?:D
Marco.
