2001 Chateau Musar, Bekka Valley Lebanon
https://s7e5a.scene7.com/is/image/wa..._chateau-musar
Bought a bottle on a whim from Waitrose.
Was concerned about the fragile state and integrity of the cork (in fact the importers state that the cork must be removed with a 2-prong wine opener).
I didn't have such an opener, so gambled on using my trusty lever corkscrew
https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/...AC_SL1500_.jpg
Whilst fully saturated, the cork came out in one piece. Next stage was to decant the wine as there was some sediment.
As to the wine itself - well I haven't enjoyed a bottle like this for a long time now. I only wish I had bought a few more at the time.
I have always had a high regard for Lebanese wine; drinking nothing else during my two visits to Syria.
Although made with Bordeaux grape varietals, Chateau Musar is no claret clone. Wines have been created and enjoyed in the region for 6000 years. It is thought these ancient soils give Musar its seductive exotic aromas and the edge of warm spice to the succulent layers of ripe plum, cherry and blackcurrant.
13.5% ABV, £33 a bottle.
Glen Scotia Double Cask.

2020 Reboul Salize, Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux
https://www.laithwaites.co.uk/images...t/4135920b.png
Christophe Reboul Salze is a big name in Bordeaux. Born in central France, he fell in love with the region's wines in his youth. Arriving in Bordeaux in 1980, he decided to make his passion a career. He gained a decade's experience trading in Grand Cru Classé wines and became director at one of the leading houses. Then started his own négociant business, which remains today a leader in the field. However, he wanted to make wine too, so he purchased three estates in the Right Bank's Premières Côtes de Blaye and the results have been exceptional. This superb claret uses a cuvée from his properties, Châteaux Les Grands Marechaux, Gigault and Belle Coline.
14.5% £16 a bottle.

Edradour 10. Dark foreboding rum like wormtub whisky.
Marvellous.
Lovely tear or leg on side too.
There is nothing quite like this on market and it's a bit marmite for somehttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...076952b129.jpg
My main tipple here in St Lucia, far superior to Captain Morgan’s effort

I used to detest rum until I visited Cuba nearly thirty years ago. However the rum-based cocktails there were a whole different ball game. :)
Old Perth, Cask Strength... long legs on this. About 58% so will need some water.
Will report.

powerful stuff and for me at least can take a fair bit of o2.. toffee on nose with alcohol too without water... cherries and sultanas in mouth and a longish, fairly dry finish.
for price, its pretty decent.
A Glendronach 12 yr old Inc a glass .
A lovely drop.
Cheers allhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1ac42a66c2.jpg
Kingsbarns Balcomie... young and fruity with a fair bit of spice, but not overpowering and stays smooth enough for a pretty young dram.. not sure age but maybe not much over the 3 years. A little thin for my taste tho..
edit.. a teaspoon od water is a great leveller.. much improved with a 5 minute breathing..

Just finished my bottle of Janneau Armagac. :(
https://www.myspirits.it/784-medium_...in-tin-box.jpg
Yes, it's pretty good. I prefer the 'XO' to the 'VSOP', but that seems to be unobtainable in UK liquor shops. It is available on-line for about €55, however I usually try to buy my Janneau in airport duty-free shops.
mom have the vs at 27 notes and the vsop at 35 quid.
