Lol... Oh I know all about it, mate [the southern bias/prioritisation of supermarket stock], from when I lived in Glasgow.
Used to watch foodie programmes, where certain wines were recommended, apparently which were available in 'selected stores' (of whatever featured supermarket/wine merchant it was), then going along to my local store to find it, of course only to find that it wasn't one of the said 'selected' (and indeed rarely ever was)...
Strangely, I almost never encounter that problem now!:hmm:;)

The Hive. by Wemyss Malts. 46%..
You can taste the bees.. [emoji23]
Honey, vanilla, and sweet on tongue. A nice warmth in this after its passed.
Interesting stuff. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...818e3951f3.jpg
Again, just to rudely interrupt the whisky love-in!:D
I've just ordered a case of nice whites for summer slurping, from Virgin Wines, which I have to say are the best wine merchants I've dealt with so far, both in terms of the quality of the wines themselves and their (impeccable) customer service:

Nomad Outland
Chivas Regal 15 Yr old Blended..
Not much of a nose yet, nice mouthfeel, flavours of caramel at bottom, pears at top, vanilla in middle and on aftertaste.
Nice and smooth. I expect a few more things will appear.
Maybe red apples in there too.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4d48f6e190.jpg
a drop of water produces a bit of brandy on nose and in mouth... but it roughens up the smoothness slightly.. not sure, but i might prefer it this way
ive noticed an improvement across board with this as it warms up..even by a couple of degrees.... colder its a little smoother and nose is almost absent. a little warmer and its a much better drink imo, even if it loses a tad of smoothness
Opened this tonight. Arran Amarone cask finish..
an oily mouth and a mix of fruit, and spice. A drop of O2 is benificial here. sweet at first with cherries and maybe redcurrents... dries nicely and has a reasonable finish.
Ive held on to not opening this(old bottle) for some time, but now is the time and it is a lovely whisky. might be a bit of strawberry on the palate too,
good value and, yes, i would buy again.

Another wood finish opened today.
Glenglassaugh Port finish. 46% and very nice indeed. I do like glenglassaugh.
Toffee and spices on nose and a bit of wild berries and orange initially on palate, followed by some oak, raspberry and rare spices.
Good longish finish with blackcurrant and spices again to see it out.
Lovely slight pink colour too.
Mouthfeel is pleasent too and it gets a bit fruitier as it airs off.
Yes that is rather good. Not sure it's currently available but if it comes out again grab some
Another Port finished one opened today.. Had this before and enjoyed it.. Tyrconnell 10yr old port finish.
Excellent sweet, mangos and oranges on palate. finish is medium with more sweet orange peel .. nose has a little glaziers putty too.. nice for a 10 yr old tho and needs no water. Longer you leave it with air the better it gets. imo.

A nice new bottle of Outland.
Very good stuff.

Just arrived today so opened.
Glen Moray Sherry Cask.
It's young but tasty enough.
Fruit, buttery and caramel mostly then slightly too much oak and spice but not bad for price..
At least you know its whisky.
Give it 3.5/5, which is a credible score.

I got a bottle of the BBR Speyside.
I absolutely loved the sherried edition so thought this worth a punt.
Needs 10-15 minutes in the glass to soften and lose its sourness. You then get some nice tropical fruits but still tastes quite austere.
Wouldn't buy another one but I'll be finishing the bottle!

excellent stuff. Benriach, the twelve..46%
beautifully married this.. black or blueberry, and a little strawberry and banana too.. pepper that goes right to finish. some buttery vanilla from the bourbon, but the two wine casks hold the strongest hand. Slightly sweet but not enough to make it sickly.
Im quite enamoured with this. Decent mouthfeel too. considering price and age.. 5/5

Glencadam 10yr old.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ed7f3e3bad.jpg
Lemon merrangue pie freshness on nose followed by a nice fresh fruits and vanilla mouth. this turns more toward lemonade then grapefruit with a reasonable level of pepper spice lingering on the mildish but quite long finish. A very tasty dram overall...
Overall, for this money it has to rate quite highly. I would buy again.
New Bottle day.
Another of these rather good ones.
Benriach, the twelve. 3 cask aged. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...85d9a396ae.jpg
Tamnavulin sherry cask.
Got this litre bottle from tesco for a club card price of £30. Pretty damn good.

Not whisky, lol, but the princess, after having been planting different sorts of veg all morning in the garden, announced (all hot and bothered) that she *WANTED* a cocktail before lunch, so I made some strawberry daiquiris:

Cambeltown's Glen Scotia Double Cask; 46%.
Nose of caramel, sea and smoke. tastes quite peppery and a rich fruity basis.. a bit of smoke on tongue too. Its a bit young and firey and a small amount of O2 helps this along nicely. Lots of cinammon and nutmeg in finish even with the water.
Nice dram tho and of its home.. Cambeltown.

Special today. I've had this for some time and it's time to open.
Tomatin, 11yrs and 8months aged in first fill bourbon casks for M of M.
This is bottled at 60% and is stonkingly good.
Wasn't cheap but its well worth it's price. It also came in a nice boxhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3354d7a6ed.jpg
Haven’t bought anything for a while and need to try some of your recent recommends Grant.
This one is first on my list. Looking forward to this a bit later. [emoji4]
