Picked up a couple of bottles of red in Lidl today , while I waited for my tyres to fitted. Marco will probably have tried them.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...35168152a0.jpg

Deanston 18.
My review went like this..
Deanston have a lot of good uns, this is the best.
One of the great non sherried whiskies, filled with honey, vanilla and butter shortbread. Great price for a top quality whisky. Nice oily mouthfeel and medium finish leaving you wanting more.

I've still half a bottle plus 2 bottles put by. Got them at a good price. One of the best non sherried whiskies there is at sensible money. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fbc704361f.jpg
A treat today; Glen Grant Cask Haven Rothes Chronicles at 46%, and aged in first fill bourbon and sherry casks.
The nose is traditional GG...In mouth are honey, burning sugar, cinnamon, followed by marzipan and GG's trademark waxy, floral taste. A nice warming and longish finish. Very nic stuff and difficult to believe its a nas.
This is an "Old Style" whisky profile.. no big slap in face, just quality whisky. well done GG
Did i mention the fruitiness?:eyebrows:
superb stuff.

sorry for slight blur. im none to steady
followed it up with the deanston as they have similarities both in profile and price.. the deanston isnt so upfront and has less fruit, not having been in sherry, but the 18yr old is imo better/smoother, but the GG is perhaps more complex. i wouldnt fling either out of bed :D
GLEN ROTHES and GLEN GRANT are the same distillery?
Some Glenglassaugh Revival.
Not so much left. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...248b0b4576.jpg
toffee and caramel on nose.. its fantastic and stronger than any other.
Lovely rich and juicy bourbon and vanilla notes with thus and just a hint of smoke.
Linkwood is God's distillery hence very little appears on market.
