Divin is what they call Moldovan brandy AFAIK. Supposed to be quite good
I took a punt on a bottle of this:

On offer - £30 /litre, very smooth, sweeter than I am used to, you can tell it comes from sherry casks, and very easy drinking. I think that it would go well with chocolate/Christmas cake. Well worth the money.
Finished my bottle of Glenfarclas 15..it was quite decent and my first of that age. Not bad value too so replaced it with a bottle of their cask strength 105.
It was cheaper than the 15, and at 60% a fair bit stronger so will need water, question is how much? https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...392f568516.jpg
Attachment 28047Attachment 28048Attachment 28049 bought this for my Dads 50th but he never got chance to drink it,so at some point im going to open it, ive done my best with pics, had to dig out an old laptop as my tablet wont play ball:(
lovely stuff.. very good to have..about 30 yr old or so i think
yeah checked it was bottled in 92.. so 32 yr old:eyebrows:
I cant recall what we paid but I did have it valued a few years ago,£400:eek:
id think that, at least
distillery closed around 92 so would be one of the last year or 2's bottlings.. rosebank is quite sought after as its gone... they are opening it again but it will be a lot of new stuff as i think the stills etc were all sold etc
Let's hope it's good stuff then:)

a 1981 22yr old rosebank... 1,500 quid... dont underestimate what this could make:eyebrows:
a 1960's one at 2,500.... https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/p/...ebank-bot1960s
Worth checking before opening [emoji23]
Grant, nice job on the shelf!
You filled it already too.
I have been looking at Glenfarclas , I can get that here , would you get the 15 year, or a 14 year Glenmorangie ?
I've not seen the cask strength GF here yet.
I could stand to learn some about scotch, seems distillers have broken out from tradition a little and everyone is trying something new.
I opened that inexpensive peat bomb large small valley , It's not the most refined, It's like adding alcohol to an ashtray and pouring it into a bottle.
Ralfy says you cant fully appreciate good whisky with out keeping a bottle or two of terrible whisky around . It's the fastest way to show someone the difference .
So I won't pour it down the drain.
James, open that bottle and sip it remembering your father!
This is how it can still be his gift.
Altered the shelf to be mostly lowland whisky.. Well lowland-ish lol
Spot the odd one or oneshttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a0581935ee.jpg
A Macallan sherry cask. My fav..

OK, ill bite the Deanston is a Highland?
I opened the Redbreast Lustau last night and honestly, I like the 12 year cask strength a little more.
Not tried the cask strength. I like the 12 a bit better than the lustau.
Deanston is indeed a Highland malt technically.. It's not far from Stirling so it's not far into the region tho.
Glenrothes distillery is up at Rothes which is in Speyside region but pretty far north. It sometimes gets confused with the town of glenrothes which is in Fife quite low down near the forth.
Might add the 2 arran ones are Highland too technically.
In all honesty Grant you have amassed a huge valuable stock of information , about scotch,Irish and American whiskey.
Origins, distillers, processes, mashes, histories , not to mention there taste and value comparatively.
Just a video of you discussing what you are drinking each night would be watched a lot.
Don't underestimate what has taken you years to learn and the interest here in the U.S. buy people exploring for the first time quality whiskey.
It is a real thing here now. People demand better than Jack and coke.
You may be surprised the number of views, you have great camera skills, your computer savvy, and knowledgeable.
Ive seen complete twits get a million subscribes who have no clue or direction or even a reason for making a video.
Give it a go man! Grant's Dram .
After 10 episodes you will begin to get people tuning in from what I have seen, it takes a little regularity to come up on you tube.
It takes 30 min. to an hour to make a decent clip , 2 hours to make a really good one.
This Tullibardine 228 has spent its last year in a barrique of pinot noir chateau de chassagne montraghet..
Rich cherries and turkish delight lead to a sweet spice medium finish.
Rather nice stuff.

Tullibardine is in Blackford, near Auchterarter in Perthshire. A relatively modern distillery originally opened in 1949.

Pitilie burn water, and some considerable time...
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...949d4c1529.jpg
One of these today.
It's good stuff although I prefer the 12 to it overallhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...cb7029e5f6.jpg
Couldn't resist opening this.. From the knockdhu.. They renamed the whisky ancnoc to avoid confusion with another distillery.
This is the vintage 2002 wit a nose of citrus and honey.. Tastes citrus and honey too, although the citrus comes late and is like peel. Medium finish, this is a super dram and it's a long time since I've had knockdhu.
46% non chill filtered, a nice Amber colour and was matured in Spanish and American oak..
Not cheap this although sometimes on offerhttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2bbbf05908.jpg
Grant,
You have some serious skills, It's like French noir film photography, all light and shade. Yet you do it with color.
I couldn't talk you in to doing video but can you describe the nose and pallet of what you are drinking and tell a little about what you like or don't like about it?
I have had the Redbreast Lustau, the 12 and 12 cask straight,I have the 15 but have not opened it yet.
So far I like the 12 cask straight the best with a 1/2 tea spoon of water. The Lustau edition is sweeter, but not as complex, It just seems like the green apple, and floral flavors are lost to me.
The sherry while subtle still changes and makes it a little 1 dimensional to me. Your thoughts?
The review I did went like this..
my 'lady of the night'
A little stronger and a little younger and more brash perhaps, but still a fine version of the 12 yr old.
Sophisticated opening leads to a drier, less sweet finish, with a bit more fire in the belly... my 'lady of the night'
No laughing now. Lol.
It's good but the dryness and excess cinnamon in finish isn't imo ideal for a sherry. I think it might be the spirit not bring aged enough. Possible a section of it should have been put in a different sherry butt but of course it wouldn't be lustau then.
:spank: spandex and flying goggles
You see, this is why... [emoji23]
I'm really enjoying this Organic Italian white wine - can't tell you what the grapes are but it's an 'ancient mixture' apparently!
Lovely light straw gold, fresh, aromatic, ripe peaches and citrus fruits; it would also be the perfect accompaniment to fish …

Taken from the Oddbins site:
The infinite (well, 500 plus) variety of grapes to be found in Italy is a source of constant wonderment. Of these varieties - Trebbiano, Passerina and Pecorino - go particularly well together. Found in the Marche region on the east coast of central Italy, they have combined to form, in this instance, a wine with gentle chamomile and acacia flavours, apple-y acidity and surprising body.
I didn't think that Oddbins still existed! :hmm:
Marco.
Think they are in administration
I thought they went bust years ago! All the ones I remember (in various locations) have long gone. Are there any left in Scotland? Not that I've seen.
Marco.
Yup, here we go: https://www.thedrinksbusiness.com/20...of-its-stores/
Thought so! Maybe online only now, or not at all?
