For me, pretty much all lager [not BEER though, I *must* make that distinction, as that's a different animal] made in the UK tastes like pishwater... Lager, or more correctly, Pils, is a foreign thing. We simply don't do it well, in the way that we can produce some truly outstanding, world-class real ales (beer), so I wouldn't touch any of the former with a bargepole.
I guess, as ever, it boils down to whether you drink lager (Pils) to savour and enjoy it, in moderation, and therefore appreciate it when it's done well, or simply neck it to get pished, in which case quantity (and price) will always outweigh quality.
