From an historic property with vineyards planted in clay-limestone and gravel soils, this is a scented, refined and approachable blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, with 28% Merlot grape making up the balance.
13.5% £26 a bottle
today its a glenallachie 12 yr old.. stunning and classic billy walker sherry forward dram.. nose has a bit of proving bread which smooths out to almonds after air... also a bit of banana.
mouthing is typical of the brand but smoother and mor fruity than the 8.. lots of dried fruit, spices, oak etc but blended well with a bit of creamed vanilla, and slides down well with a medium finish.
superb stuff. this has won a few awards too... not as dark as the 8 either but it has a smoother and deeper sherry taste

L’Épiphanie de Pauillac hails from Pauillac’s top tier – a Premier Grand Cru Classé estate. There are only three in the appellation: Lafite Rothschild, Mouton Rothschild and Latour, and this wine is from one of them.
L’Épiphanie de Pauillac has blackcurrant, cherry and ripe plum infused with subtle spice, cedar and cigar box notes. These classic aromas combine with firm tannins for a complex wine with a long finish. Can drunk now, but cellaring will pay dividends - drink by end of 2028.

the listing says ; Nose: Sweet hay, green apples, and floral honey.. Palate: Malted milk, with more apple, pear, and some waxy orange peel, along with a drizzle of salted caramel.. Finish: Sweet and lingering, with some spiced apple pie.
its firey but i will say its tasty too in its way, but for me and for 40 quid it needs to be a lot more and a lot more rounded. maybe 30 notes but not 40. still its as i say quite fruity anda bit firey on way down..

this is cheaper and much better... deanston virgin oak.. the end of the bottle.. only £34 by comparison and light years more sophisticated. tbh it has a similar if not as fruity profile but this is much better.

2019 Château D'Arsac, Margaux Grand Vin de Bordeaux- Médoc

One of the oldest wine estates in the Médoc. Château D'Arsac is proud of a history going back a thousand years. This dates to the Lords of Arsac in the 12th century, Thomas de Montaigne in the 16th century, and 1986 when it was acquired by Philippe Raoux.
Chateau d’Arsac has risen like a phoenix from the ashes thanks to the dynamism of its owner, Philippe Raoux, and is a great example of how a once neglected estate can be reborn.
This chateau had long been an oddity in Bordeaux as the wheel of fortune seemed to have passed it by in modern times. After the phylloxera crisis at the turn of the 20th century not a single vine remained at d’Arsac and in the mid 1930′s the chateau was completely abandoned.
Unbelievably, the chateau’s actual winery became a chicken-coop from the end of the Second World War to the mid 1980’s. Such was its condition that d’Arsac was not even considered for the Margaux appellation, which was created in 1954. Every other chateaux in the commune of Arsac was entitled to bear the Margaux AOC on their wines except it’s namesake.
It was a strange state of affairs as Chateau d’Arsac has a glorious past. It is regarded as one of the oldest wine estates in the Medoc and has a rich history that can be traced back over 900 years.
Records go back to the time of Eleanor of Aquitaine (1122 – 1204). During the Hundred Years War (1337 – 1453) the Lords of Arsac were allies with the King of England. In the 16th century, the estate was acquired by Thomas de Montaigne, the brother of the famous philosopher, Michel de Montaigne.
D’Arsac was also part of the Segur empire (the owners of First Growth Chateau Lafite). During the French revolution the chateau was destroyed but it was rebuilt in 1830 by the Rubichon family. By the end of the 19th century, d’Arsac’s vineyard was one of the largest in the Médoc.
D’Arsac was bought by Philippe Raoux in 1986, a 4th generation member of a family of wine makers and traders who operate the Chamvermeil wine trade business.
Raoux vigorously embarked on reawakening Chateau d’Arsac: he reconstructed the 276 acres (112 hectares) of d’Arsac’s vineyard and after 10 years of intense renovations and investments Raoux successfully approached the INAO to have d’Arsac re qualified into the Margaux appellation.
It wasn’t an easy battle – experts from the INAO insisted that Chateau d’Arsac did not qualify but Raoux produced geological surveys and historical documents attesting to the quality of Chateau d’Arsac’s wine in the 19th century. And won. So, since 1995, 133 acres (54 hectares) of d’Arsac’s vineyard are classified under the AOC Margaux, the remainder are classified under the AOC Haut-Médoc.
72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot Noir.
13.5% ABV. ~ £30 a bottle.

my neck is killing me so some relaxant... Bunnahabhain 12... very nice Oily and Leathery, rich sherry spiced dram this.. one of the few non peated Islay ones and one of the best considering its an entry level really. It got a gold from the Distillers' Single Malts 12 years and under - 2022 at the International Spirits Challenge.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose: Meaty malt with a whiff of bonfire and smoked ham.
Palate: The ham notes acquire a honey glaze. Barley persists underneath, imparting vanilla notes.
Finish: BBQ and chocolatey toffee.
