Started the evening with this great debut from the wonderful Tracy Chapman. I saw her in 2003 at the Apollo Ardwick Green Manchester on the Let it Rain tour, awesome except for the reggae encore which really wasn't her forte !https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...74c36778b6.jpg

Playing now, one of my all time favourite artists, I have had the good fortune to see him three times, first time at the NEC in 1990 on the Stormfront Tour and again 1994 on the River of Dreams tour then finaly in 2006 on the World Tour at Sheffield Hallam Arena with Peter Kay in the audience !https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...5d95fa8f34.jpg

Next up this superb album from 1982 by the late great Joe Cocker. Produced by Chris Blackwell and Alex Sadkin and featuring the Compass Point All-Stars - Mikey Chung, Sly Dunbar, Wally Badarou, Robbie Shakespeare, Barry Reynolds and Uziah "Sticky" Thompson plus guest vocals by the legendary Jimmy Cliff and Robert Palmer.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...105db9fe54.jpg

What better way to close the evening, with what must surely be, one of the all-time great live albums by the incomparable Eva Cassidy. Recorded in January 1996 just 10 months before her sad death at just 33. There are few artists capable of pulling off versions of songs from such a diverse range of writers but Miss Cassidy does it with such consumate ease !

This one had completely passed me by. Probably because it was 1994, and I was heavily into EDM at the time. So I've finally got it, and at £2.70 inc. postage, is about a fifth of what it would have cost back then.
Been missing having a copy of this for a while, it is a favourite of mine of all Alice's albums since when I first heard it '72, one of his more out there albums, if there is such a thing. Took a chance as some reported varied pressing quality, but this copy is superb. An exceptionally good re-release of a classic.

AFTER SEEING STEVE HILLAGE LIVE LAST NIGHT, AS A TOKEN GESTURE I'M PLAYING THIS ALBUM RIGHT NOW!!   IT WAS A GREAT GIG BY STEVE AND THE REST OF THE BAND; ONLY ONE LITTLE NIGGLE FOR ME WAS THAT HE DIDN'T PLAY MORE SONGS; THE ONES HE DID PLAY, HE WENT INTO A SORT OF JAM MODE WHICH MADE THEM A LOT LONGER AND AS SUCH LIMITED THE AMOUNT OF SONGS HE COULD'VE/SHOULD'VE PLAYED. GREAT MUSICIANSHIP - TIGHT AND PRECISE!!!!!

THIS SOUNDS LIKE A JAPAN ALBUM WITH GARY NUMAN ON VOCALS - REALLY EXCELLENT!!!!! Mind you, having Japan's bassist Mick Karn and ex guitarist Rob Dean to play on the album may explain the uncanny similarity !!!!
I watched a programme the other day on Sky TV about him and his current resurgence.
Used to have a couple of his early albums (post Tubeway Army); quite liked them but not enough to keep them. His current work didn't impress me either, but I admire his hard work - he's working on his 24th studio album.
