A new thread for the coming season
Current one hasn't finished ....
There's FA Cup to be settled yet, and Champions League too.
Soz, meant to answer this before:
No, they won't play each other, but it'll still be interesting.... Looking forward to the Nice game later tonight, but don't have a scooby what the Celtic team will be!
As for Griffo, he's always been a problem child, such is often the case with talented players. What I suspect has happened is that, as he's obviously still got mental health issues, the lockdown and lack of playing football has got to him, as the more you're alone with your 'demons', with nothing to take your mind off of things, the more it'll affect you.
And as you know, it's a common thing to pile on the pounds when you're depressed, as you use food to 'hide behind', as it were, and to try and cheer yourself up. Basically, with him, it's been a classic case of 'idle hands are the devil's tools' - too much spare time to sit and think about his problems. He needs to be playing football to take his mind off of them!
It's a disappointment and setback for sure, but only temporary, as I'm sure he'll return to confound his critics. He'll need to be on his toes though, as I hear that Klimala (the Polish striker we signed last season) has really come onto a game during training and looks a totally different player!
Marco.
Oh, and I also hear that Joe Hart's pretty much a done deal, and unlike some, that excites me... He just needs a new challenge/confidence boost and the chance to prove himself, as you don't lose the abilities you were born with overnight. The fact is, not that long ago he won the Premiership title with City and was England's No1. A 'dud' he is not.
In that respect, I think he'll do a great job for Celtic, the same as other Man City 'flops', such as Sinclair and Roberts!;)
Marco.
not been looking much tbh.. lots of rumours but as of yet no substance so far..... i believe the window up here is now open, although i thought it was to be end of month..
Oh there's plenty of substance in the Joe Hart thing, :trust:
Marco.
Both teams in France for friendlies today
was referring to rangers as i had a chat with a few folk.. what celtic do is their affair, as is rangers tbh, but im still interested in the youth side of it as rangers are setting up a very good system; trouble is pressure stops mostly any of them getting into fisrt team.
still we live in hope one day. they signed the lad from ireland, lindsay, and the boy graham from ross county... 2 of the best prospects today, alas kennedy seems to want too much cash and has had his head turned by his agent... if he cant get into our side, he wont get into man city's.. still if he is chasing cash...
I think the Sassuolo shirt would be a great away one for Celtic to be inspired by, perhaps with a touch of green also on the sleeves:

That's a cool shirt. Might see if I can get one to wear over the summer:)
Marco.
On sale now too, so duly ordered: https://www.uksoccershop.com/p-13010...all-shirt.html
Marco.
the neroverdi:D
Yeah, defo. Cool shirt though, innit?
Marco.
for a celtic guy, yeah :ner: cant see many gers fans sporting one down the copeland rd tho:D
Lol - how do you know there aren't any Sassuolo fans among the Rangers support?:D
Marco.
Yeah, you'd NEVER see me wearing any Celtic colours, no matter where I was in the world!
Not worth the potential grief.
Marco.
Football shirts should only be worn by those playing a game of football and those under 16
Nah, only if you're a short ass with a big beer belly and look like an old man... That doesn't apply to me!;)
With a pair of 501s and my black Vans [these boys: https://www.schuh.co.uk/mens/vans-ol...rs/3400517070/ it'll look cool.
Marco.
My casual shoe of choice
https://www.ralphlauren.co.uk/en/han...shoes-trainers
Yeah they're ok.
Marco.
Used to wear a similar shoe when younger. Was something to do with baseball or American football. Got them imported and were really good, comfortable things. But it's a long time ago now. Can't remember the actual make.
Sounds like Converse All Stars, mate. Didn't think you were cool enough for those!:D;)
Marco.
Remember they were bloody expensive in the day. Twice the price of a set of docs
Fancy a wee job when you've got time, mate? :)
Could you close this thread and move all recent posts about this season into the new thread you started for this season? Ta!
Marco.
Sort it next time I'm on pc
Cool:cool:
Marco.
1-1 in our game against Nice, with Klimala, who looked sharp and very physically fit, coming off the bench to equalise. We should've gone 1-0 up in the first half, with Edouard, but it was [wrongly, IMO] ruled as offside by VAR.
VAR during a bloody friendly, eh!
Anyway, I was quite impressed with some of our play, and Edouard looked very good indeed. Just about to watch the Rangers game now:)
Marco.
Bet rangers get pumped. [emoji23]
Well, they're 1-0 up so far! Kent.
Marco.
2-0 now, Hagi!
You were saying?:D
Marco.
Lol
Oh dear, Kent red-carded for slapping an opponent in the face!
Bit harsh though, as it was more a tap than anything else, but you just CANNOT raise your hands towards an opposing player like that these days and expect to get away with it. So they'll have to play the remainder of the game now with 10 men.
Marco.
I know... It was a soft one, but FFS, raising your hand like that to the guy's face, what did he expect the ref to do?
Marco.
Great 2-0 win for Gers, playing nearly 60 mins with 10 men! Overall they were the better team, and I was particularly impressed with the new goalkeeper and Shirley Bassey!:D
No, seriously, Bassey was great and looks like he could make a significant contribution to the Rangers cause this season. I was rather disappointed in Lyon, and had expected much more from them. They came alive a bit more in the second half, and Triore had a few chances, but never really threatened the Rangers defence. Moussa Dembele should've played from the start!
For me, Nice were a better team, so it'll be interesting to see how Rangers fare against them. However, aside from Kent's sending off, I'd imagine Gerrard will be a happy man:)
Marco.
Patryk Klimala, Celtic's goalscorer tonight, looking lean and mean for Celtic...
https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/924/cZ0qCB.jpg
The boy's put on a LOT of bulk (muscle) since he joined the club, and obviously spent a lot of time in the gym during lockdown!
I predict he'll be a sensation this season, which could mean bad news for Griffiths, if he doesn't get his finger out ... Klimala and Edouard has the potential to be an awesome partnership.
Marco.
Indeed!:)
When's the last time you had a six-pack like that?:D
Marco.
seems kent has got away with his red as it was not a recognised french fa game so no report will be forwarded... lucky boy, i remember a celtic player getting a 2 game suspension into new season for similar
Welcome back to the Premier League Leeds United
I was going to post this in last season's thread, but it has been locked for some reason.
LastThis season still hasn't finished.
Lol - it's finished as far as I'm concerned!:ner:
Liverpool and Celtic are champs, and the wee diddy teams finished somewhere behind us....:eyebrows:;)
As for Leeds Utd, yeah I totally agree... For them, the title of 'sleeping giant' couldn't be more apt! TBH, I'd love to see the likes of Newcastle Utd and West Ham also realise their 'sleeping giant' status, as they've been cocooned in mediocrity for WAY too long!
Both of them, along with Leeds Utd (when they get settled), challenging at the top of the EPL, and Arsenal (and Man Utd) restored to genuine title contenders again, would make the league even more exciting than it is. But yes, Man Utd vs. Leeds Utd should be a potentially thrilling derby!
Anyway, for us Old Firm fans here, more footy to watch tonight from France:cool:
Marco.
Gers 1-0 up against Nice, and playing well!:)
Aribo, Edmundson and Defoe [the goalscorer] particularly impressive.
Marco.
Good for them. Could win the trophy if it stays that way
I wouldn't be against that for the kudos it would give to Scottish football, friendly tournament or not!:)
Too many blinkered, uninitiated fools think that the SPL is a 'diddy league', and Scottish football is wrongly laughed at in some quarters - that is until some of them (footballers) with 'big reputations' elsewhere come and try and play there...;)
Marco.
