I should spend a few hours browsing at Audio Science Review forum, where it's been discussed at some length. Not many subjective impressions to be sure, bit that's not wholly a negative thing when trying to evaluate from a distance!
FWIW it looks an absolute cracker of a DAC and I'd happily audition one myself. I recently jumped onto an SMSL M-500 and could not be happier - I'm astonished at digital progress in what seems like the last eighteen months!
I'm sure the D90 is quite superb, but I'm not tempted as I have the D70 that I am more than happy with and managed to get at roughly half the price of the D90 ...
I have my eyes on the Topping DX7Pro. Fantastic (objective) reviews...but it may be overkill in my system as I do not have any balanced inputs or outputs or AES or IIs! However, I do need a headphone output -otherwise the cheaper D70 or D50S would fit the bill - and I demand excellent SQ hence my wanting the advanced chipsets in this unit. I also like the idea of a screen and remote. If I get one I'll do a review after a lengthy burn-in (which I understand they need).
Many of the latest Topping units seem in short supply - or not available at all.Probably caused by the the outbreak of COVID-19 in China. Has anyone got a D90-or even a D70Pro or 50S in the UK?
Yup not much coming out of there at moment. The nura headphones were stopped producing while this is ongoing. Certainly if they turned up I would be putting box somewhere safe for a while before opening
I'd like to put one of these up against my Golden Gate 2 to see what all the measurement obsessives are focussing on. Will probably look for one early in the year to try out :)
