Time to ditch the Merc and get a Tesla then?

Lol - indeed... There's always a happy medium, though!;)
Marco.
Golf R's are lovely. I've always been a big Golf fan, but you're on your own with that Brabster (looks wise, especially the interior) it is just a gross, OTT bling-fest, and sadly the way that the most expensive cars made now are going, simply to cater for the 'look at me', key-jangler set they're aimed at. All show, no class!
The prime example of this is the state of new Rolls Royces - OMG, just *HORRIBLE*!!:spew:
However, the engineering of that Brabster, especially of the engine, will be in the highest rank, but that doesn't save it from being an epic fail. Sadly though, that blingy look is also the way ordinary, affordable Mercs are going, which is why my next car will be an Alfa, not a Merc:)
Marco.
Indeed! too blingy / hairy chested and a bit medallion man - lol, needs toning down. I wouldn't have one even if they did tone it down (and I had the dough) though.
Too big for a little fella like me anyway, hence it'd be a dark coloured Golf R, (Metallic Black or grey type) with the 19inch Pretoria alloys, full black leather, with maybe touches of alcantara suede, maybe some subtle dark carbon fibre touches too - job done !
One day :)
Not quite sure what “having fun” means in this context.
Racing - illegal in the UK on public roads.
Cornering - driving round bends too fast so that there’s a skid risk.
Going round blind bends or over blind summits in such a way as to enjoy the Russian roulette flavour.
Stick fingers up at cop cars then try to get away, or see if they’ll send helicopters after you.
See how many speed cameras you can dodge without getting a speeding ticket.
See how many speeding tickets (or worse) you can get in a day.
Seeing if you can get the tyres to spin, or burn from a standing start.
Wait for the winter, then try using the roads as a skid pan.
Go as fast as you can towards a junction, then see if you can stop before going over the line.
Seeing how many red lights you can go through in a day. Some people are chicken, and go through on orange!
Also, many people don’t realise that the speed limit on many UK roads is actually 60 mph, not 70 mph.
Boring world, isn’t it - but the roads are for ordinary people to drive safely and effectively.
One kind of fun which some people enjoy is driving a convertible with the roof down. It gives a heightened sense of speed, due to the extra noise. In the summer it can be fun.
It’s one of the few forms which isn’t actually illegal or considered too dangerous.
sure you can have fun without endangering folk or property. a time and place, and with a sensible head on.
Are you always this boring, Dave, and known locally as 'Captain Killjoy'?:D;)
'Having fun" is of course entirely subjective.
However, the context in which I'm referring to it is, driving fast (but safely and within speed limits) on largely empty, winding country roads [yes the corners are the real FUN bits:eyebrows:], in a car that is set up to handle well at speed when going round corners [stiff sports suspension, wide low-profile tyres, uprated brakes, etc, etc], whilst listening to your favourite tunes on a superb sounding car-audio system, or with no music on, and simply enjoying the 'growl' of the engine (through a fat-assed quad SS exhaust system), as you accelerate through the gears...
And the fact that the latter simply doesn't happen with electric cars, is one of the main reasons why I'm so against them!
And even though my car is far from perfect for the described purpose, it's still a HOOT to sit in, and feel the surge and power from the engine (delivering in excess of 300bhp), as you accelerate hard on the straights, and (in good weather conditions) throw around corners on near-empty country roads, of which thankfully there are plenty near me:cool:
Life's too short not to have some FUN, of any description, in a car or otherwise!
Marco [LIVES his life, rather than merely exists].
