Expected really he had throat Cancer for over a decade. RIP true genuis.
I never liked Van Halen. I never liked Eddie's style of playing.
But Eddie was the pinnacle of Eddie's style of playing.
RIP. Been watching some YT videos to appreciate. You were genuinely outstanding.
The Beat It solo has to be known and loved by millions of people.

I've got two VH albums. 5150 and OU812. Bought them back in the day. To me they are very important in terms to music. I never got in to VH in a big way but my two albums still get played. There's some serious poodle cheese in there but, hey.... Compared to the detritus that kids are listening to now, I'd crank it up without shame.
He was an amazing player. I just hope Eddie and Hagar were friends in the end.
The news of this is most certainly more important than Donald Trump.
RIP Eddie
saw that... johnny nash gone too...rip both
A truly superb guitarist, and very modest with it, you don't get voted number one guitarist for nothing by Guitar World magazine unless you are good. He along with Van Halen set the bar for Heavy Rock music which many tried to reach but often failed.
He will be missed!
What is "poodle cheese"?
Van Halen never made an impression on me, so I cannot comment on Eddie's playing, save to say that he was considered to be as influential and creative a player as Hendrix. So respect there.
It's always sad to learn of anyone passing at such a relatively early age.
RIP Eddie
Both sad losses .... never much into either but very aware of them both ...
5150 has some great singles. Try staying under the speed limit with Dreams playing at 11.
But although I am a big fan of Hagar, he's a true pro, the best way to remember Eddie is the album 1984.
