Sorry, Gary. don't get it... What are we supposed to be looking at that's either surprising or new?
Marco.
ai picture recognition i guess.. nowt especially new about it tho if thats what it is.
Definitely not new. It’s just tying facial and gait recognition to a database. Recognition software is donkeys old, it’s even been in Apple’s photo software (iPhoto then Photos) for years, and even that can calculate the same person’s face even if they age significantly.
I put the smart-phone facial recognition software to the test today.
My partner often wants me to take her photograph with her smart-phone (I don't have one). When I point the phone at her, the camera recognises her and the camera just clicks away without me having to do anything. But today, she wanted me to take a photo of her wearing a mask, which of course covers much of her face. The camera didn't recognise her and so I had to press the button.
Ok, thanks. Just to be clear: I couldn't give a flying fuck about being 'tracked' or 'spied upon' in town centres, as I've got nothing to hide [lead a reasonably non-eventful life], so track and spy away, until you're heart's content..
What I have a BIG problem with isn't being spied upon or surveilled, but CONTROLLED, or worse, *enslaved* by the state, which is potentially one day where all this tech could lead to, IF abused by the relevant authorities.
Therefore, it's not being spied upon that's the problem, unless you're up to no good and have something to hide; it's what the plan ultimately is for all the spying.
