Chopping boards used as isolation platforms have been recommended before. But it is always good to be reminded of these 'economical' solutions. Thanks for the reminder. :)
Wilcos sell bamboo chopping boards. Two different sizes and easy to put your preferred spikes, cones etc. under. :)

The article, if read in full, discloses that sandwiching two of the Ikea Aptitlig boards together, with the GROOVED sides facing and supplemented with ball-bearings of a certain dimension (still, ceramic, brass - whatever takes your fancy) placed in the grooves, s an interesting and enhanced development for an insubstantial outlay (about £50 should do it)!
