Not sure how long this has been out but looks new too me. Certainly for Mac users I think it has a new look?

Yeah I noticed this the a few days ago too. Also noted that users of the earlier version have to pay for the newer version which seemed a bit naughty!

I think Audi or Ford don't give free cars to previous owners?
One thing that is going to be great in this is the ability to choose either the FLAC or MP3 copy of an album/song stored on your NAS. BEfore it ended up being in the same album on the interface so you essentially listened to the same song twice, each format if you just let it play through.
Hope the stability issues have been fixed also.
It's the same software isn't it just with a few additions which is nothing like getting a new car.
Showing a bit more loyalty to their existing customers would pay dividends in the long run. Strikes me as greedy.

It's a free upgrade from 3.2 to 3.5 - long time since ver 2.0 so I'm grateful I've not been charged. There are graded discounts for users of older versions too. Sadly the interface (Mac) has been dumbed down in my view with fewer characters/tracks/fields showing. Easy to find and play tracks but not as easy to tidy up tags and metadata.
Let's get a more relevant comparison.
If you bought an app for your phone would you expect to pay 50% of its original value to get a slightly different and not necessarily better version or would you expect it to update with every new release?
I paid a fiver for bubbleupnp. I wouldn't now pay another £2.5 for a patch that may or may not improve it
Maybe I'm just a tight arse.

Jriver produ e new versions regularly. You don't have to buy them but I usually do. You get a advance discount. It's fairly common for a new version. Updates are free tho.
You dont have to buy the new one, the old one still works fine.
And the improvements on new software updates can be judged by the spec list, for me, its a definite on Audirvana as they have implemented the Flac/CD album option as seperates.
The amount of work that goes into developing and maintaining this type of software is immense, so to keep that happening, the company has to make some money. There hasnt been a big step up change in Audirvana for a couple of years, so for me, I think its pretty fair as they also offer a discount on the upgrade for existing members.

I am waiting though till the majority of the immediate bugs have been ironed out, so ill upgrade in a month or so. There has already been some new updates done.
