Happy Birthday Alex.
Are the kids taking you out for a meal ?
Thanks guys! We've had a long weekend in London, but home now and official birthday meal was last night in Piccadily (Steak & Co - they have a few in London I think but we always go to the one in Haymarket. They sear your steak, then you finish it off to your liking on a hot stone, with your choice of different butters, salts and sauce.) We got back an hour ago and couldn't be bothered to cook so picked up a cheeky takeaway en route.
Knackered to be honest - this was our 5th trip to the Big Smoke for a long weekend for the first weekend of half-term which coincides with Valentine's and my birthday. Saturday we headed into Covent Garden and then a couple of hours at the Churchill War Rooms (fascinating) before dinner back in Covent Garden and the The Lion King musical at the Lyceum. Amazing show, great costumes, brilliant orchestra and singing and a beautiful theatre. Yesterday we finished off HMS Belfast (last visit we did the lower decks, this time typically Storm Dennis tried to ruin the upper decks but we're made of stern stuff!) then over to Madame Tussaud's before the above mentioned dinner. Today we headed over to Harrods and then walked back to Buckingham Palace (in my 51 years and despite having been to London literally thousands of times, I have never before been to the palace gates) then a stroll down the Mall before the heavens opened again. Found a great little Italian Place on Pall Mall (as despite a cooked breakfast the kids were "starving" again) before heading home.
Then opened my pressies, and wished I was cooking to have a play with my Microplane grater with slide attachment (thanks for the tip off on that one, Marco!) and something I have wanted for ages - a Borner V3 slicer. They also got me a Ninja Foodi cook book for beginners, an apron decorated with sausages (William's idea!) and a nice case of great British ales. So I guess they want me back in the kitchen!
Have the rest of the week off so mixing between family days out and decorating the new place, which for the latter is less exciting than normal because it is just a freshen up in the same neutral colour. But this evening just chilling with some wine, a snifter or two later of my Valentine's pressie "Gentleman Jack" and hopefully a film if I don't nod off!
Thanks again for your wishes, and yes, I have had a great day. :)
Happy birthday Alex, sounds like you had a great (and well deserved) day! :)
You have a PM, Stevie-boy!
Marco.
Alex, love the summary of your birthday - great stuff, that's what it's all about!:)
Just don't be using that microplane on your bell-end, even though it reminds you of Parmesan:D:eyebrows:
