Well not the start the Canaries wanted!
Who were they playing, mate?
Marco.
Liverpool - Premier League opener at Anfield - expecting a drubbing but not 3-0 after 30 minutes! To be fair, we're playing well...
I'd have taken 4-0 at full time. Half time, ouch! To be fair, Liverpool are just a different class. Their value £976.28m. Norwich £83.12m. I don't expect us to beat Liverpool, Man City, Tottenham etc - but I think we have a fair chance against the bottom third, and ambitions this year just have to be to survive, which is going to be a huge challenge in itself such is the gulf.
Well the second half we did much better - no more goals conceded and we got one back - 4-1 against the European Champions at Anfield is no disgrace and I am super proud of the team. Super proud. Bring on Newcastle next. :)
Ah, didn't expect that to be happening midweek. Is that normal? I thought the first league fixtures always kicked off on a Saturday? That's what happens in Scotland.
Anyway, not to worry - you won the second half! And your season will be defined by games against other teams than Liverpool:)
Marco.
Dunno, thought it was usually Saturday but who knows with Sky!
LFC beat West Ham 4-0 in last season's opener at Anfield, and Barcelona 4-0 in May, so we did better than both of them! Think they also beat Arsenal 5-0 last season, so not going to panic after one game, and Anfield is a fortress! Best unbeaten home run anywhere I believe across all the top leagues.
So the traditional kick-off time for a new season, unfurling of league flags, etc (3pm on a Saturday), is something else that's been spoiled by the money men!
And normally such games aren't televised live... Does anyone know how long that's been happening in England? As far as I was aware, their league games kicked off the weekend after the Scottish ones, so something has changed?
Anyway, I certainly wouldn't worry about losing to Liverpool, as I suspect that most teams will suffer a similar fate this season. I'll be looking forward to your games against Leicester - and hoping you can get one over BR!;)
Marco.
