In 1990:
730ES tuner was £300
X77ES CD player was £1300
Multiply by 2.5 to get it in today's money. Would have been an expensive stack.
Note that 'ES' models intended for the UK did not have the wooden end cheeks. No idea why that was.
Yeah, the Japs are funny about stuff like that. Expensive, yes, but I'd have thought more so... I reckon that the pre and power amp would be killer.
I also thought it was my CDP in there, which is an X-777ES, not an X-77ES, unless that was a typo?

In the pic you posted it's an X77ES. Only two '7's :)
Compare to the 777 it looks quite different - well, slightly different. 777 was more expensive I think?
