You have a distributer in the US and you may be able to buy an ex-dem pair from one of his dealers - they all sound the same, so the fact that a pair may be a few years old and with mixed use is irrelevant really :) I only say this as so few ever come up used here (the UK is a tiny market for them, so much so that the few sales here can be pulled from an export order with no ill effects) and shipping chunky cartons to the US won't be very cheap!
Good luck though. In a good sized room and positioned away from walls if possible, they can sound delightful and they're easy to drive too.
If you can't find a pair, see if any HL III's or IV's come up, let alone the original V's which I once owned. Spendor were hugely popular in the US and some ORIGINAL SP1's (with Celestion and Coles tweeters) will still be excellent - later SP1s and 2's have cone-suspension issues and need the brake-fluid treatment to restore them, at least for a year or so and a repair at Spendor would be very expensive. Production in very recent years isn't an issue by the way.
I think most of us UK residents would like a nice cheap pair of harbeth super shl5 :eyebrows:
That's the only way anyone would get their hands on mine :eyebrows:
I know sound presentation is a very personal thing, maybe more so than the type of music we enjoy, but I have never heard or owned a pair of speakers that give me as much pleasure as my SHL5's do. I could live with them until I die, unless I can one day afford some 40's, but TBH I am more than happy with my SHL5's, all I hear is the music - final destination speakers for me :D
Some here - open to offers.

Missus, what missus, can't see one round here . . . :nono:
I'm Billy no mates and quite happy to remain that way TBH - not for everyone, but it works for me.
As for SHL5's, well I go to a lot of live gigs, too many if I'm honest and I enjoy listening to music and just music. The Harbeth sound lets me do that at home, all I hear is music not Hi-Fi, totally transparent to my ears and that's all I care about. Anyway, I'm sure I have bored people enough in the past about my love for this particular marque, so I'll shuffle off and enjoy them playing some more ODi.
