Carotid surgery is healing quite well.
I see they're talking about easing the lockdown. Not a lot of point here, the 'locals' opted to totally disregard it over a week ago and go about their business as usual and not a copper in sight either! There's plenty of traffic again, shops seem to be trading, as do other businesses. Little sign of 'social distancing' any more, they're all standing about in groups chatting on the high street. Bloody typical of the ignorant, self-interested lot here. I don't see things going well.

Wow, you were lucky, my op was triggered by a couple of microstrokes, second one had me going to the doc. They were great, everything organised within a week.
I thought I was having stents put in, nope, scraped artery. 86% blocked.
I apparently lost 95% of blood flow through the artery. I'd known something was wrong for a while, as I was losing the ability to think. By the time I carted myself off to the doctor, I couldn't even figure out how to turn my PC on, let alone use it! :rolleyes:Quote:

I hadn't really thought about it, but I've realised I can't remember the last time I used cash to pay for anything. Been ordering it all online.
Last time I went the cashpoint was end of February. Took out a ton, I've still got about £15 of that left.
I got paid cash on a couple of jobs just before the lockdowm, went straight to the Post office to pay it in, washed my hands straight away. Cash must surely be an excellent virus carrier, along with card keypads and petrol pumps.
My wallet is still full of old £20 notes! I too haven’t used cash in weeks, apart from £1 coins for the “egg shed” and I am running low on those now! Wonder if they’ll install contactless?

They have increased the limit on contact-less transactions to £45 now.
The banks are having a laugh - charging 20% interest on loans (soon to be increased to 40%) and at the same time offering 0.01% to savers. They seem to have forgotten that it was we tax payers who bailed them out in 2008/9. :doh:

I keep hearing about pharmacists being a good alternative to GPs for diagnosing a variety of ailments, so later I'm off to try one out. I've had a small spot on the side of my nose for months now, which never heals. After a poke round tinternet, I found a shitload of pics which look identical to mine, called "basal cell carcinoma". Apparently very common and no big deal.
So I'll see how I go on with this particular pharmacist, or whether I need to go to Boots for a second opinion.
Of course I'll have to run the gauntlet of coughers and sneezers outside the door, but it can't be any trickier than getting past the receptionists at my doctors :)

Del's loving that aspect of the lockdown though, and if it had been occurring in different circumstances, she'd be properly lapping it up - especially the lie-in, in the morning!
She's managing to work from home perfectly well, taking part in live daily meetings with her colleagues, via the use of 'Webinar' software, and also in touch regularly with her students, whilst still on full pay, and loving having the spare time to make things with her fabrics and textiles (she's always been very crafty), the latest being customised shopping bags, made from recycled materials, and CV masks for us to wear out, lol!
Plus planting all manner of different veg in the garden, as we strive to be evermore self-sufficient, cooking more food than usual from scratch, and being able to enjoy proper lunch breaks (some of which may or may not include Prosecco:D) with me outside in the nice weather we've had recently. And I'm loving spending more time with her - as are the cats!
What's not to like? Well, of course a lot, given the circumstances we're all in... However, it could be MUCH worse!:cool:
Btw, I can't remember if I thanked you for the excellent info you provided on the installation of solar panels. It could've been something I meant to do but forgot. Anyway, thanks for that - all noted, appreciated and will duly be considered!:thumbsup:
