I noticed this as well I dropped out at £160 :(
Is this any good?

I'd guess it would benefit from laminating, judging by the description.
Are they really worth this and possibly more

How much of a bargain was this?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pair-Of-Pa...-/221170039036
They are the Pageant's but series 2, all drivers are original but the alum trim is indeed missing or painted. Not sure about the veneer though, but they'll need some care which means extra fun.
Let's wait and see what comes up. :)
I've been thinking about a reel to reel and this Tascam caught my eye...

Would look good next to an EMT?

Jon'.
Someone got a pair of Westminsters for £3500 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tannoy-Wes...p2047675.l2557
LOOOK!!!
NOT a 'Bargain on eBay'!
What is an empty pair of Tannoy Turnbury cabinets worth? £200 maybe. Add in a pair of IIILZ drivers, which seem to sell for around £800 these days (for some inexplicable reason) and you have a grand's worth perhaps. Not two and a quarter thousand quid!

Maybe they're worth that in Poland, but not here.
I just bought a pair of these:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=160952299983
Full range 8 ohm 8" 10 watt drivers with 94db sensitivity selling at £6.25 a pair.
They actually measure around 7.9 ohms DC, which means they are nearer 10 ohm drivers really. I can see two pairs in cheap home built reflex cabinets making rather useful party speakers. Gives you 5 ohm, 20 watt rating per pair @ 97db efficiency producing over 110db at max. That's loud! And nobody's going to notice the lack of proper deep bass.
The magnets are tiny, they are a little coloured, but definitely a bargain!
You seem to have a nose for a bargain, Geoff. It's more than a bargain that when there's two.
Fabulous cd player this - I won't be getting rid of mine ...

£350 on BIN is pretty good for that level of player.
Martin, I would not be surprised to see it go for just an opening bid of £230, which will be a great bargain for someone. Consonance are not so well known over here and there's still quite a lot of prejudice against Chinese made gear …
Just bought these for a laugh...

At least, an add with proper pictures! :youtheman:
They should be more than just a play, you might even get surprised!
I listened to the Droplet CDP5 when it first came out with valve output very nice sounding player and well worth a listen
The Magnum SL is a nice old speaker, with a rather full seventies style of sound. Good drive units. You have to avoid keeping them anywhere too warm as the vinyl 'skin' on the bass driver can start lifting off. The crinkly vinyl surround on the midrange cone is normal, some were like it new. And the tweeter is a Phillips unit with a pretty detailed sound. They were a bargain for what you paid and could be tidied up easily enough.
good speakers , I'm building some new cabinets for some magnum k's at the moment Birch ply with Zebrano veneer .Will post some pics if anyone is interested.
ooohhh those will be sexy - yes please post some pix!
Gotta love this - check out where they sourced the plugs on this top quality silver mains cable ...

Just this minute bought a pair of these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/pair-2pcs-...item4ac0447014
Now I've got to wait 3 to 4 weeks to get them and probably pay some duty when they reach the UK.
They should be interesting, I've been planning to try some Diatone copies for some time and these are sensibly priced, the Alnico versions are much dearer.
Have any of you heard of the Diatone P610? It has a cult following worldwide and a pair of the originals from fifty or sixty years ago cost big money these days.
let me know what you think of those magnums , i havent heard a pair for a few years but they are a very nice sounding speaker with great lows:) , be sure not to overdrive them though the bass drivers are prone to go pop!! blew a few units myself back in the late eighties:(
Bargin alert, great high efficiency speekahs .. Theses were out the same time as the superb 'TTS3000' motor unit..

Something nice from the seventies. A pair of KLH Model 6 speakers looking in very decent condition. Doped fabric surrounds on the bass units that won't rot away. These are definitely a bit of a 'Classic'! They are in Leicester and the listing ends in a couple of hours, only up to £7.16 currently.
