They also fail the Beobloke “speaker design by standing across the room and throwing random drive units at the baffle to see which ones stick” test.
It wouldn't surprise me if the Kenwoods are not even made in Japan. The tweeter looks rather like a dollied up version of a European design. (a little hard to tell as my eyesight is rubbish)
Lots of them for sale in USA so maybe an oem design.
