Well I've somehow become the owner of a pair of Goodmans Axiom 301 drivers. Wont be doing anything with them for the minute but after the move I'll have a 30x18 listening room :eyebrows: so some 200L cabinets might be quite fun.
Well don't try using the Goodmans Hifax or Midax horns with the 301s. I found the Goodmans horns coloured and unpleasant, doesn't stop them going for silly money now though.
The dimensions of your silver horns should give you an idea of what crossover point to use. I don't have figures handy, but an online search should tell you the cut-off point for a horn mouth that size. Just use a crossover point maybe 20% higher and it should work.
Also good to know. The Goodmans recommended cabinet can be viewed here: http://community.fortunecity.ws/rive...sax201encl.jpg
Jensen BLH cabs look interesting: http://photo.qip.ru/users/yras/4067660/all/?mode=xlarge
I have no idea what will or wont work... This is all completely new to me [hence why I'm doing it... "Normal" stuff has become a bore.]
Just pick up a pair of Tannoy 12" Lancaster or Cheviot cabinets cheap off eBay. Loads being sold lately with people stripping the drivers out. They'll work as the driver will be in the right position and you can brace them internally a bit to improve them. You can mount tweeters in a matching box/module on top!
That's food for thought ! I wouldn't be in a position to build any for months so could be a good idea.
"and amp"... Yeah a Quad 405 ! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rare-Vinta...item2eced6af36
