Tell Me Something............Anything!

Bugger, laptop not responding - having to use desktop in study. Means that I can't browse web while Fliss is watching "call the midwife" and suchlike.

I have that on dvd ,that my daughter gave me 3 yrs ago . I havent watched it yet ,but wasnt that the basis for Allo Allo , or am I imagining it??:lol:

I must root it out but I recall the very same thoughts about it as you did , a bit boring ,and no Michelle in a maids outfit :eek:

On another random note , I have had a quiet time with my hi fi , not had it on for a few weeks and cant be arsed to play any vinyl , as I am too lazy!!

great series. quite a lot of episodes too. ive got it on my hard drive. and yes allo allo was a parody of it, even tho secret army was belgian.

Wasn't my thing at all. And iirc, the theme music was similarly dreary. My mum was into it.

No-one in our house was into it. My dad wouldn't be home from work yet, my brothers would be at cubs and the only thing my mother ever watched was Coronation Street, and maybe This Is Your Life if it was someone she liked. We used to dread that as she'd insist on turning the channel over to see who it was and we'd pray it was no-one she was bothered about, or we'd be stuck with it.

Just hearing that Secret Army theme tune and seeing the opening credits again sparked a Pavlovian reaction in me. 'Oh no. Got to do my homework.'

not sure what time it was broadcast but i think it was just after teatime, or dinner time elsewhere.. back of 6 o'clock??

It was broadcast in the late 70's, so I had no problem being somewhere else. We had a second living room with another telly and the family stereo, my bedroom with my stereo, and there was always the pub :) Not that I did any of these things just to avoid Secret Army.

I never did any of my homework at home, my school had a thing called homework detention for that sort of thing. Which preceded Secret Army by quite a few years.

I would guess it was on in the 7 o'clock slot, BBC2.

The one I saw the other night was first broadcast in November 1978. I would have been ten years old.
