What projector do you have Justin?
Has it though? Our 55" LG OLED from about 2017 has some mad screen burn at the bottom, due to Mrs. P leaving it on Sky News for hours at a time. Sometimes you can actually read "Breaking News" at the bottom of the screen :(Quote:

I've no idea what tech my TV uses, it was just the cheapest 55 inch they had from a manufacturer with a name I'd actually heard of.
7 years with about 25K hours on it, no screen burn. But then I never watch the news.
Most TVs these days have a facility where the screen will go blank (dark) with a logo or motif which will drift around the screen, if the TV is left on for a long time to protect against screen burn. The time is selectable and can be disabled if required.
This is especially useful if you use your TV to listen to radio programmes. All BBC radio channels can do this by pressing the green button on the remote.
Mine goes dark automatically if you select an audio only channel. It does switch itself off if left on the same channel for - I think - 6 hours, but it gives a warning first.Quote:

My telly has this facility, it dims the picture significantly and kicks in after a minute or so if there is no movement on the screen, such as when it is paused or when displaying static images such as radio info as you mention. But in the case of Sky News (and it probably happens with Sky Sports too), you have the news coverage (moving images) combined with static information banner. So the auto-dimming isn't activated.Quote:

How far away from the screen will you be viewing the TV?
Any distance he wants to I'd guess.

Even sitting looking at the LG switched off you can tell that’s not the case anymore.
Able to take in edges of screen and the overall scale of it without needing to move my eyes back and forth, so viewing distance seems spot on.
Sit down later tonight when I’m all set up, need to run it on calmer settings for a while till the panel runs in.
Some reading up to do on that today.
