Bit screen hit this making $260m from about $55m budget.
The film was initially given an X rating, one of the last films to be given such. As with Verhoeven's Robocop before, violence was trimmed and different camera angles were used in the over-the-top scenes for an R rating. The amount of on-screen deaths in Total Recall was considered extremely high at the time.
No doubt because of the woman with three breasts (not to be confused with "The Triple Breasted Whore of Eroticon-6"). ;)Quote:

a bit more lighthearted now with Robert Zemeckis's Romancing The Stone, 1984. Stars Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito.

Zemeckis was fired from making cocoon when the studio saw the rough film of this. they expected this to flop badly but stuck it out anyway. It was Fox's biggest hit of year..(egg firmly in eye)It grossed over $115m from an outlay of $10m. Zemeckis on back of this got to do "Back To The Future"
