Feeling a bit Bach this morning:lol:....
One that has been waiting to be played, it was one of several freebies from a collection belonging to the Dad of a friend, great condition and as usual for Decca good recordings and pressing.
Sounding great on the Chris Roger's PRO9 Transmission Lines, lots of clarity, detail and oomph in the lower registers(without bloom/boom).

Can't fault the re-mastering - it's staying in my collection.
This is a wonderful recording IMO, and both great works, if you get a chance snap a copy up..

Felt like some Mozart for a change, some classical rock of the day:lol:...
I am quite a Mozart fan so have put a few notes for you that may not be familiar, not mine but from liner notes.
If you come across these Time Life recordings in a charity or 2nd-hand shop do not hesitate if they are in good condition, they are generally very well selected recordings, the vinyls themselves are excellent with virtually no background noise, some of the best classical records I have, and I have 4 of these Mozart boxed sets, all great.

Symphony No.30 In D Major, K.202 (24:57)
Notes "Composed between 1773 and 1774 with Not. 22 to 30, when Mozart was a young man, being just 18 years. No 30 seems to have been written as an afterthought as an occasional piece, that may have had a direct social function as its stimulus.. ...written in a style that is of popular festivity, with much fanfare, pomp and circumstance."

Harpsichord – Christopher Hogwood
Orchestra – The Academy Of Ancient Music

A2 Andantino Con Moto 5:42
A3 Menuetto 5:04
A4 Presto 5:16
Symphony No.31 In D Major, K.297 (Paris) (18:25)
"Commissioned for performance in Paris, .....the tone of the piece reflect's Mozart's determination to give the Parisiens what they wanted.... The entire piece, except for the slow movement is designed for effect, which only Mozart's genius prevents it from falling into empty display. A sense of glittering brilliance rules the music, and the virtuosity of excecution goes beyond anything he had written before."

Orchestra – Klassische Philharmonie Stuttgart

B1 Allegro Assai 8:00
B2 Andantino 6:15
B3 Allegro 4:10
B4 Symphony No.32 In G Major, K.318, Allegro Spiritoso—Andante—Tempo I (8:21)
"Soon after Mozart left Paris he composed this Symphony, K.318, but it is not a symphony in the same sense, it is an overture and often titled as such. Albert Einstein, was quite convinced that the symphony was meant to server as Zaide's Overture. (K.344 is titled Zaide) and there is a thematic dualism between the two.

Wonderfully relaxing. In fact I'm enjoying it so much, I'm tempted to write in very large and colourful letters, but that would be vulgar and inappropriate.
(BTW, on vinyl of course. :D )
:D
