All those 'farming' programmes are good escapism for us townies too - Yorkshire Vet, and the Yorkshire couple with the eighty or so kids that all muck in - she watches them all, and I quite like them too :)

Having an interest in restoring /fixing old sewing machines ,I am now determined to make a few kites !!
I loved kite flying when I were a lad ,so its onto Fleabay for some rip stop fabric and see if I can find some old tent poles or bamboo,whatever,and an old reel of kite twine and hopefully will be flying soon :whistle:

Just rewatched the entire 'The Sweeney' series, that Thames TV intro sure brings back memories..........Rollocking good fun, the sexist comments provide the funniest dialogue, the hammy plots seem quaint, interesting how much crime has changed, then it was all bank robberies and lorry hijacks, now its internet fraud and drug dealing. Makes one pine for the pre internet days, I know, I could always turn it off............the internet that is.

The Sweeny puts modern police shows to shame in every respect, plots, acting, dialogue, direction.

My uncle was in CID through the Sixties and Seventies, he always said The Sweeney was totally realistic except that their office was too tidy - there should have been huge piles of paperwork everywhere.

If modern police were allowed to be more like the Sweeny, country would be in better shape. Imagine some scrote saying "No comment" to Jack Regan, I'd pay good money to see his response :punch:
