Funny you should show that. I've been selling off some rare book matches on eBay recently.
Still got a pile to go yet though.

Just spotted this on eBay. Finishes soon, can it really be a bargain? I'd expect a whole deck for around that sort of money, boxed or not.
I wouldn't value it at more than thirty quid. But then, I don't want it.
WOW! I checked the selling price when it finished. £285 for a Thorens TP16 arm, unbelieveable!

Another unusual item. Do these really feature an 'upgrade' or could they be well and truly shagged?
Like it Chris, almost a Degree of Separation... :eyebrows:
How about these? Item number:160897992737:lol:
This is one of the worst but funny listing I have seen for a long time. Scroll down and read the description and shipping details .
Nice pair of old Leaks down in the West Country. Looks like they'll go cheap!

They sold for £16.63, a real bargain pair of big Leak Sandwich speakers!
Would you buy this? Looks like it dates from about 1967. Fit for the bin!

It's a bit tatty but what a great price. I wonder how long you'd have to wait for another one to turn up though?
Very tempted to buy these Tannoys. I've got a spare set of cones and new surrounds.

Item 321007865341 'oo' come to daddy..

Still spinning like your monkey did?
Not many like this one around anymore

'Classic' little japanese Nikko integrated from the seventies. Looks like a 12wpc TRM300 judging by the number of buttons, likely to go for peanuts, good little amp.

And, here's that new phono stage you've been promising yourself for so long!
Just joking.

A bargain? Not a chance, bottom of the Sony range in it's day and probably worth about £15! (or £5 at a boot sale, which is where it probably came from)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sony-TA-70...item4abba8f5da
Buy this Sony instead! http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?t=21272
I don't know what you mean.
That's a nice bit of top quality schmutter guv'nor - a hundred knicker seems like a proper bargain to me - I'd probably go for the 20 quid Ebay 'warranty' as well, 'cos that seems reasonable too.
They got me convinced with this bit:
In this world of Mp3 players and ringtones do you not long from the days when listening to music was an open, colourful and pleasurable pastime rather than the shut in, compressed and dull sounds of today's world.
Bring back the colour into your life
Just spotted these, Ditton 25 speakers, finishing soon, near Leeds.
They look in great condition, this could be a really big bargain! Only up to £56 with less than 12hrs to go!!!!!!!
(now don't all start bidding against each other)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1970s-Cele...item416d66752f
By the way, they are the Mk.II version with the Ditton 44 styling.
Somebody just got a very good deal. £293.88 for a Meridian 500 Mk.II CD transport, nice going. I've seen these fetch around £500!

Nice speakers but stupid description.

These were bargain B&W's
Item 121004715139
These are still on offer, a little cabinet work and they should be some nice speakers:
Item 330816530580
A pair of vintage Wharfedale 12" full range drivers in cabinets. These are lovely units, well worth the asking price. Listing ends tomorrow (Monday).
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WHARFEDALE...item2576fb2dfe
Good call Geoff, i am sucker for vintage Goodmans and Wharfedales, if i didn't have big speakers all over the place i'd be all over these.
Big magnets!
Yess..!! thats the boner shaker. :D
Won't be a bargain but nice all the same, have that ''i want'' factor.

Didn't sell, :eyebrows: ditto about the postage, wonder if he would relist them with a best offer option, negotiate to send your own courier and it's a goer. :)
Yeah, saw that. Courier won't be too cheap if they come with cabinets and if the drivers only were sent, would they be packed safely enough. I've had speakers damaged in transit a few times.
Tell me about it Geoff, i've had a pair of Goodmans 1220c in 172 ARU cabs smashed with rough handling, thank god those cast drivers survived the trauma,
there's nothing better than having a pair of them vintage bad boys in a headlock, sadly thats a feeling the majority peeps with modern svelte speakers don't get to experience, i've only one more dream, thats to have a pair of Altec 604 G's under my armpits one day.
This item is possibly one of the most bizarre items of audio nonsense I've ever clapped eyes on in my life!
Andy, the 604G. Isn't that the driver used in the Altec Stonehenge? I have heard these coaxial drivers and they were impressive, but did not quite impress me as much as the Tannoys of the time. I'd imagine you'd pay a small fortune for a pair now.
By the way, a couple of years ago I sold a pair of triaxial 12" University Model 312 Diffaxial speaker units, probably dating from the sixties. They sounded amazing, dual cone, with a coaxial phenolic dome tweeter and alnico magnets. University were a branch of Altec, but their products are extremely rare in this country.
Must have taken a bit of imagination and skill :eyebrows:
Yes, it occurred to me that it would sound at its best at the moment of switch-on as you're bent down, head 'twixt the speakers. It's all downhill after that though!
