Studio insiders expected Romancing the Stone to flop (to the point that, after viewing a rough cut of the film, the producers of the then-under-development Cocoon fired Zemeckis as director of that film), but the film became a surprise hit. It became 20th Century Fox's only big hit of 1984. Zemeckis later stated that the success of Romancing the Stone allowed him to make Back to the Future.

The Lady Vanishes 1979,stars Cybill Shepherd, Elliot Gould and Angela Lansbury among others.
Quite a good version but doesn't quite hit heights of original.

Robby the Robot went on to enjoy a successful career keeping Doctor Smith in check in "Lost in Space". As a kid I found it more scary than Doctor Who. Not sure about that film poster though - i don't remember Robby having walking legs.

Metal Mickey had his own record label.

But Robbie could make whisky, that's probably more useful long term.

All the Lost In Space one could do was alert you to danger. I mean you can get a dog to do that.
