I've got Holst's own recording (1929?) too, so must dig that out . . .
Nice... Apart from anything else, I just love the look of classic vinyl.
The packaging, sleeve artwork, labelling, often the provision of a proper inner sleeve (defo if it's Decca), the automatic use of heavy-duty vinyl, which is nearly always perfectly flat (unlike much vinyl produced today), not to mention the awesome recording quality (in general) of the music itself - everything about the whole package oozes quality!!
It's a nice reminder from a (sadly bygone) era of the pride people once took in their workmanship... Therefore, I feel as if I own something special that's not just been 'churned out' for the sake of it. For me, that's as a big a part of my enjoyment of playing and collecting vintage recordings on vinyl, as the music itself! :exactly:

On a more serious note, I've got a couple of versions of that performance somewhere... Will dig 'em out and have a listen.
