At time it was one of the highest budget films ever, if not the highest.. the needn't have worried as it made about 4/5 times that back.

I recently found myself thinking about "The Executioner's Song", with Tommy Lee Jones and Rosanna Arquette putting in sterling performances. It came on telly in about 1990, and was done in two parts, as it is about 5 hours long.
I looked for it on DVD or Blu Ray, but apparently it had been messed about with - for instance, the song playing on the bus's radio when taking Gary Gilmore to his execution: originally it was "Una Paloma Blanca" (or whatever it was called) it was changed to something else :doh: Surely that was an important part of the (true) story? So I didn't bother.

Eastwood and Burton reportedly dubbed the film 'Where Doubles Dare' due to the amount of screen time in which stand-ins doubled for the cast during action sequences..
Burton was as drunk as a lord throughout the whole exercise too. Four bottles of vodka a day!
