I've been after one for ages to go on my Biotracer PSB-80 but they seem rare and expensive over here - the last one I watched went for the wrong side of £500.

Edit - just noticed auction is in US dollars, not HK ones, so it's starting at around £550! Oh well.... :(

Lol... No doubt it would be a real cracker of a cartridge though, and outperform some seriously high-end stuff made today. All my instincts are telling me that (and they don't often let me down), so I guess it's just how much moolah you're willing to pay! ;)

In my view, if it could be bought for less than $1200, sonically, it would be a bargain.

Oh yeah, sure. For me, however, if I can buy a cartridge for £750 that performs like one at £2k, which I suspect is the case with the Sony, then it's a bargain.

However, your idea of a bargain I suspect might be somewhat different! ;)

As clearly stated in the listing, the recommended price is AU$199.99, but the asking price is AU$1000. So he is not hiding anything. He just wants a 500% mark up.

Yes i'm sure they would be fine in a cheap home cinema lash up - not hi-fi speakers, though, unless you like your soundstage 'unusual' ;)

Sorry Nat but I can't copy and paste with my mobile so can't post links. The item was fort a Linn Akito arm belonging to the seller's father which was broke in two, but in otherwise excellent condition. The seller thought a bit of welding would see it back in working condition. There was about 10 bids when I last looked and the price was about £50. It ended, but I didn't look to see what it went for.

You'd have to hear them, I did. To get some idea, just lay a pair of small speakers on their backs and listen to them. That's about the sort of sound you get! Vague, diffuse and lightweight (not to mention the horrible colourations).

They were reviewed in The Audiophile. The design was limited by the quality of the driver and use of a parasitic tweeter.

There are sets of pre-drilled holes underneath, dude, corresponding to optimal alignment with most cartridges. It's actually a very good headshell - probably one of the best :)

It's okay Marco it was meant as a satirical response to the overpriced items. I've owned one of these and an ADC headshell in the past and actually I preferred the ADC headshell over the AT item ;)

Lol - coolio... Both are magnesium headshells, so there's liable to be next to fook all difference, although for me, the AT had a slightly nicer smell.

Just won this nice little ECL 82 push pull Pamphonic 3001 for the collection, i've just taken the sleeve off and looks like it's going to be a labour of love with all those original caps to replace:eek:.

At least all the valves are Mullards :D

Nice one Andre, I bought a black one at a booty for £3 a couple of years ago and plan to give it to my parents soon as they are both getting a bit deaf and never hear their cordless phone, drives me mad trying to get hold of them sometimes

Aye well the conversion cables are only like a fiver in authentic coloured cable, new number label for the centre of the phone are about two quid with your own specified number added.. can't go wrong..Presently looking for a 1968 GPO '722L' trim phone in grey/blue to match my Ferrograph 307 amp & open Reel

Isn't it a buy it now at around £500?

I think though that a friend sold one in good condition relatively recently as a normal auction and it sold for nearer £250.. Perhaps this one is NOS though?

A laser either works or it doesn't in my opinion. That it was playing erratically suggests that it is something other than the laser.

I reckon a recap of the player would get it working, in my ignorant view.
