I found the article very interesting and simply confirmed what I already knew and have always hated about the British Empire, colonialism and the British 'establishment'. And it's just as big a problem now, as it's ever been, and presenting a major threat to democracy!

Doesn't make it right though, does it? Personally, as someone who values honesty and decency/integrity, and abhors corruption and all forms of establishment wrong doing, I find it both appalling and sickening.

no its not right but its commonplace, and for various reasons, although its mostly to protect the guilty, it also protects some innocents.
its a dirty old world and always has been. money and power drive many folk to get others to do their dirty for them by telling them its for their country etc... many do it coz they are animals.
Britain's record as colonial power is not spotless but is far better than any other country's.
