Well Martin, it was worth a punt at 12 squids, I'll let you know when they land. It's a long time ago 79/80 to be exact, but Lintone were always one of my better dealers :)

Since when is a Garrard 4HF worth £620? I've seen them go for around £30!

Are people mad?
Just to update you Martin and others, The albums arrived from Lintone today, well packed and undamaged. Of the 40, 5 were Classics for Pleasure and went straight into my charity shop pile. Of the other 35 thiese where mainly mint to mint minus. I have lots of Liszt, Ravell, Puccini many of which are classic DECCAs, there are also many good DGs, EMIs, RCA Read seals and 3 CBS Masterworks series records. I have a Callas version of Tosca and many many others. All this for 11.50 plus postage, which works out 0.61p per record. Even the 5 tat ones are mint. Absolute ruddy bargain, well worth the punt :)
Well done Paul on your purchase... sounds like a bargain to me :)
Thanks Bev, having gone through the lot, I would think to buy these from a second hand classical specialist would cost around £200-250. Some of the DECCAs I've seen online for £10-15 as tey are quite rare. I'm off on Friday, so it will be classic spinning time :)
These are quite good for their size

Never heard of him. looks like a piece of crap
His turntable of choice may be suspect and he isn't my producer of choice... BUT... he is Huoooge in digi dub...
this wiki page is only a minimal start to his influence:- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jah_Shaka ( myself I prefer a bit of Pablo or Joe Gibbs, non digi I knows...)
As to whether you can blame Jah Shaka specifically or not, I don't know, but there are some of us who are old enough to remember the Ska/Reggae scene of the sixties. The home sound system of choice for the Jamaican immigrants, was the Blaupunkt radiogram, the best of which were fitted with a Garrard 4HF. Many of these in turn, made their way to the fledgling UK sound systems of the day. In 68/69 I went to the wedding of Earl Luke, who later went on to own WEM Reecords (World Enterprise Music). The sound system, Count Rose - From the North had been brought over to play the wedding and they had 2 4HFs and a wall of 15" JBLs. The argument goes that if you want the authentic sound of Ska, then playback on a Garrard 4HF is essential, though a lot of sound systems used 301s and even LAB 80s.
Very nice Theta DS Pro Progeny DAC at £230 or offer. That's cheap for a fine sounding unit like this. TosLink & Coax inputs only. I had one and was impressed. Not much around to touch one at this money.

Lenco GL88 £320 delivered.

not strictly hifi and not ebay but for anyone looking for a cheap media player Ebuyer have the HP 260 G1 with Windows 8 for £99. I asked bespoke to beat my price and they came up with £85.91. Also quidco have 15% cashback for beat my price deals on bespoke for the next 5 days so if cashback turns up it will be about £73 delivered which seems a very good price.

Seems an expensive way to buy a 42mm flat washer. I've got a pack of these that cost me about three quid!

I've seen similar selling for more too. Daft!
Just another example of daft French prices. You should trawl French eBay. Some of the second hand prices are unreal. An old tuner that might reach £5 if you are lucky over in the UK would start at €35 here. I've sold a couple of Sony bits and I doubled what I paid for the nine bits of a whole system.
The French seem to see value where the UK would bin it.
Talking of daft French prices. Not even working!!http://www.ebay.fr/itm/platine-tourn...item2804cecb6c
Some silly buggers around £20k....anything for publicity:doh:

Thanks. I'm feeling a bit pleased with myself. I'll reveal the final price once money has been exchanged and I have it in my hands on Monday evening. Looking forward to hearing it.
OK, not a bargain but wow!

might be worth the 99.
Opinions on this old amp!!
There is one up for sale at a tempting price out here and looks in reasonable nick. Still has the spare fuses on the back. I have heard both good and bad about it so what do you reckon? Any good?
I doubt it will give the Stereo 20 much to fear but another piece of history on the Steadman shelves would do no harm.
I had one for years, gave it to Dan The Man who has had it working recently. No real power but very sweet and open. I think you would like it.
I had a Delta 30 briefly, which I believe is largely similar apart from the cosmetics. I wasn't keen personally.
I was using a Rotel RA-611 as my main amp at the time and it was way better.
Still cheap enough this with a day to go... would fancy this myself
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3714064855...STRK:MEBIDX:IT
I had the 611 too and have been looking out for one.. The Leak would only be for yet another bedroom spare and looking at and, as it's starting at about £20, provided it doesn't go any higher, I thought it might be worth a punt. Mondial Relay is so cheap out here that the postage adds hardly anything to the price. I have three or four days to cogitate, so I will.
Thanks Macca for your input too.
It was Leak's first foray into SS amplification. The circuit was a shameless plagiarisation of the Jack Dinsdale design. Dinsdale received no acknowledgement, and was threatened with litigation by Harold Leak should he 'cause waves'.
It won't cause your Leak Stereo 20 to fear, since the Stereo 20 is the much superior amp!
Are these value for money or what???

I don't like the look of them to be honest..
I think, like always really, you get what you pay for
I have some Partington Super Dreadnought stands and they are very well made with heavy top and bottom plates.. For about £80 more I think they represent good value too
