I'm currently experimenting with different types. Whole milk defo froths up more, but for my tastes is a little too rich, so I prefer the results I'm getting with semi-skimmed.

I've now tried a few, and the clear winner *so far* is this:

Probably because it's produced just up the road, but it's so much creamier and more natural tasting than bog-standard semi-skimmed, and froths beautifully!:)

I never use semi-skimmed. It isn't milk. It is ruined.

Full cream Jersey or the local milkman's full cream is all I really touch.

That said I don't froth my milk (I microwave it) and I drink it with a very high milk to coffee ratio. About the same as a medium Costa, and I drink it in an Avex thermos.

Semi can froth well, though.

Costa use Freshways milk if you like Costa.

Fair enough, but it doesn't taste "ruined" to me, in the context I use it, far from it. I find full-cream milk too rich/fatty for making cappuccinos. Fine on its own though, or poured over cornflakes:)
