Is it a captive mains lead on the amp or an IEC?
IEC
Ok, if you're happy fitting an IEC plug to the output lead on the variac, you can them measure voltage by sticking the probes from the multimeter in the slots of the IEC plug, so no bare wires.
Aha! - OK --- yup, I'm happy with that.
I can manage to fit a plug or IEC connector. ;)
So the probes go into a live slot and the earth slot?
Live and neutral slots.
I'd probably set it to 210v to give the amp an easier time.
Live and earth will give the same reading :-)
Nice one, Jerry. Better being safe than sorry, mate. Once you fit the step-down transformer, you'll be comfortable in the knowledge that the amp is safe.
Returning to things of a hi-fi nature, you've got yourself a smashing valve amp there - in fact one of the best I've heard, and it costs peanuts! :eyebrows:
Btw, are you using it just as an integrated amp, or as a power amp, from which to fit a separate preamp? If you didn't know, you can do both, and fitting a high-quality preamp to the input sockets, on the front panel, massively improves the Yaqin's performance! ;)
Marco.
Yep - I'm using it with my lovely Restek pre-amp -
