Just to mention that the inox Technics armboard from ebay seller f1sport (frolm Greece) is a perfect fit for Shuggies collar. No extra metalwork needed!
Cannot compare but the finisch of the armboard is excellent.

Great if you want to remain silver - difficult to turn that black though which I actually needed in this instance. I will run with that one next time around as a silver will be needed for that one.

Next up is that debate over arm position and setup - but thats another thread I think.

The same seller does black anodised aluminium too.
Most important thing is that the measurements are correct and the Shuggie collar fits.

The inox board is very heavy and doesn't seem to resonate.
I don't know if it has a sonic benefit over the aluminium ones.
It is howerver heavier and as rigid as it gets.

I'm pretty sure that a shop that does car body work would be able to paint the inox black.

If the collar is to replace the original Jelco one, it's a drop-in replacement. The hole and bolt positioning are all the same.

Thanks Hugo, I received my collars today. Didn't take long all the way to Tokyo! The first one was immediately installed on the SP10, Jelco SA-750lb 12" with the Ortofon SPU Royal GM mkII. the benefit of the collar with the SPU is that you can't really easily set azimuth on the SPU as there is no flat surface on the headshell so you are relying on the arm itself being right relative to the armboard. Your collar fixes the gross variability in azimuth the original Jelco collar can introduce. It's just better.

Nicely finished quality pieces too. I'm very pleased. More pics to come over time as the rest of the collars find their homes on various decks with Jelco and Ortofon tonearms.

Shugg's, received my new black one this morning, its a beauty and like you said, the finish is much better than your Mark 1 model which I also have. Delivery on my order was unbelievably quick seeing as I paid by cheque, posted Monday, arm collar received this morning (Thursday). Packaging is good and robust, the box contains all necessary quality bolts, nuts Allen key plus clear advice sheet, what more could you want... a Jelco arm thrown in for free? Forget the free arm, go buy the collar and buy the arm.

There is another batch in the pipeline, available towards the end of May. I'm experimenting with a grey finish to better match the SA-750 tonearms, so if that turns out to be successful, there will be three colour choices.

MCRU may still have one of my black collars in stock, so give David a call.

I found this thread interesting...not because I have a Jelco, but because the problem with inadequate support around the collar seems all too common. Even highly costly arms such as the Triplanar and Graham are fixed with just a screw forcing the superstructure of the arm against the column. Potential azimuth issues are only one problem with these designs. It just is not a decent engineering solution to 'lock' the arm with only a screw, the surface area is too small.
This is one of the areas where SME show their design superiority. Their arms include a properly engineered clamp so that the whole column is firmly grasped.

But when properly implemented, that is a perfectly good way of securing the arm pillar in an accurate and consistent manner. Take a look at a Linn Ittok/Ekos mounting collar and you'll see what I mean.

Could anyone give me the exact external dia of the Jelco 750L mounting please.

Do you mean the diameter of the arm pillar, or of the hole required in the armboard for the collar? The answers are 18mm and 30mm respectively.

The overall diameter of the standard Jelco arm collar is 56mm; my custom collar's diameter is 58mm.

Does that cover what you wanted?

The cost has had to go up, reflecting the postal price increases that came into effect on 1 Apr (April Fool's Day?). Prices, including insured postage, are now £45 for the UK, £47 for Europe and £48 for the rest of the World.

Folks, I thought I would post some images and give some feedback on this marvelous item. So firstly many thanks to Hugo who was a pleaseure to deal with. I received the item the next day, special delivery all included in the windscreen price, this is what you get:

You get extensive fitting instructions and bolts, nuts, spring washers, allen key and small nylon arm pillar protector which I think is a nice option.

I have a number of collars with slight defects, at reduced prices (normal price is £38 + postage). The collars are graded as follows:

A2 - Very small marks unlikely to be seen when mounted. Price £33 + postage.
B1 - Small marks that may be seen when mounted. Price £28 + postage.
B2 - Marks that will be visible when mounted. Price £23 + postage.

Postage costs are:

UK Special Delivery (recommended) £7
UK First Class Signed For £4
UK First Class Standard (your risk if not received) £3
International £10 for all countries.

I am doing some upgrades on my Thorens TD 320 TT (new Lyra Delos PU in place and a Oyaide tonearm cable on it's way) and wonder if should get one of your collars instead of the original, which is kind of "wobbly".
Do you think it will fit on my TT and is it easy to replace the old one?

Your edit crossed paths with my PM to you! Ignore what I wrote about the correct mounting distance - it's 211mm for a PT-6 (not 214mm, which applies to the Jelco SA-250 and SA-750D).

Yes, the collar will fit, since the Audioquest has the same 18mm diameter pillar as most Jelcos.

Anyway, you will definitely benefit from a better mounting collar, but you may have to get a new armboard; or at least modify the existing one, since the collar fixings are clearly different, but you might be lucky and find that the opening for the PT-6 collar is the same as for a Jelco. A new armboard would probably be the easier option, particularly if you are handy with metalwork .

My collar is exactly the same for fitting as a Jelco original, so you would only need to get (or make) an Jelco-compatible armboard with the correct size hole, placed to ensure the correct spindle-pivot distance (211mm for a the PT-6). You can download a Jelco mounting template from Vinyl Engine (go to the Tonearm Database). So, apart from potentially modifying or replacing the armboard, yes it is easy; and handling/adjusting the tonearm would be much easier with a decent collar. The nylon stub provided with my collars will also prevent the grub screw damage that can be seen in your photo

I do have just a few of the B-Stock black collars left, priced at £28 + £10 postage to Norway. You can have one of those straight away, or wait for the new (even more improved) version of the collar which will be available in grey. The new ones will be more expensive and I can't yet tell you when they will be available.

All the B-Stock collars are sold now. I expect to receive the new 'even more improved' version of the custom Jelco collar in 3-4 weeks, and there should be plenty available. I'll post details and pictures here as soon as I receive the finished samples. They will be available in black and grey finishes.

I am also introducing a 10mm spacer ring for those Jelco users who need to raise the arm up, to match really tall platters (eg stacked platter Lencos). This spacer ring is fully compatible with the standard Jelco collar as well as my 'even more improved' custom version.

I was expecting some finished samples in the post today from the anodising people, in order to confirm that they can go ahead with finishing the whole batch, but they did not arrive. So, it does not look like they will be available this week. But all being well, I should have them next week.

Slight problem there - demand for the silver collars was pretty non-existent against grey and black, so now I don't do silver at all. What arm do you want it for?

Sorry, I did see that in the thread. I guess old age is creeping up quicker than I thought!
It's going on what I thought was a silver 750L, which having looked again now seems more grey than silver!
So a grey one if possible. Should add that I haven't actually bought the arm yet, so I'm going from pictures.
