BTW I called the owner where I get my bottles, I bought 10 pricey bottles in 4 weeks from him and he charged me 100% over full retail on the last 2 bottles.

Funny the 1792 is only a 8 1/2 year aged in wood,but the barrels chard differently and are aged on a different floor of the Rickhouse for a different flavor profile .
Distillers really are talented individuals.
Need to try the 1792 sometime when and if price stabalizes. With Brexit about to kick in, Irish may become difficult but if Trump wins Bourbon may become easier. Who knows.Quote:

I was trying to get a bottle of Langskip but it isn't here yet. The Arora and the standard Wolfburn is though.
I can't really keep getting more till I've made room in the cabinet,I've rearranged the bottles every which way and It still leaves 7 out and the Pantry is off limits .
Now I am making decisions , I like Monkey Shoulder and Naked Grouse but to get something different, I will get another bottle of Naked Grouse and replace the MS with maybe Tomatain CS, or WB Langskip.
Or if I ever find Glenfarclas CS 105 under $100.00, I did notice a lot of bottles you guys get in 1 liter we get at 750ml. for near the same price as you pay.
Even Bourbon is a problem here so many options are not shipped to the west coast that are available every where else. Just like there are Napa and Sonoma wines that are only local to California.

The young wolf is if memory serves 40% quarter casks. Ie 50 litre bourbon. 40% normal borbon casks and 20% sherried. Young but lots of exciting fruity flavours/
fettercairn, ive not tried yet but i like their profile. This has been sherried and port pipes after bourbon casks.. I expect it to be fabulous although not cheap..

Lots of people have wine sent home directly from the winery, they can ship internationally in most cases.
I don't know much about wine but living in the UK you have access to some amazing Scotches like the Fettercarin, I can only live those through Grant, You should have at least a couple of these gems in your cabinet for a dram in winter. Nice to enjoy on a cold evening by the fire or in my case near the furnace with some Diana Krall running through the tubes.

As for Fettercairn, I found the 12 YO to be lacking in complexity. It was ok, but did not do anything special for me.

I paid $20.00 for 1.75 liters of NAS Carlye scotch.
I read most of the Bourbon cask scotches that went into this blend are 8 years old.
I used a char 3 barrel for Rum then Bourbon,then added the Carlyle and left it finish,I put the Carlyle back in it's bottle and filled it with a red Chianti table wine for a couple weeks then drained it out, let it dry out some and put the Carlyle back in to sit for a few days and the results are very pleasing. It is still young but it's enjoyable to sip.The color is redish brown.
Dose anyone know anything about Carlyle Scotch ? Grant's clearly the forum expert in this area,with out question.
This little 2 liter barrel has been fun. I just poured some J&B rare in the barrel to see what comes, I'll look at it in a week.
It tastes like a peated Irish Whiskey, I'm guessing it's mostly Grain, some malt but not a lot.

Carlyle is blended in glasgow... 20 different whiskies apparently.. the company is Thomas Carlyle & Co. Glasgow. SO a guy with a big vat mixing and bottling I guess..
