Unusual grilles hanging on the rad there but I suppose you can leave them off for listening.
Fancy something a bit special and rare? Coral Beta 8 full range drive units. Beautiful!

Maybe if you ask him :eyebrows:
big bucks though Geoff :(
Tannoy DC200 speakers with a £500 asking price. That's nuts! Ten times what they're worth. What a chancer!!
These miserable things are not at all good. I'd not advise anybody to bother with them. Even the cheap DC1000 is way better.

I hope nobody is daft enough to buy them!
Good spot on those Celestions, Jamie. I had a pair for a bit they do have some strengths and some weaknesses you need to compensate for.
Good northerner amp!

You need them on low stands, pref open frames, about 6-8 inches tall. Close to a wall but not too close, about a foot or two away. They don't take much power before the mid starts hardening up so if you have a big room you can't whack it up and fill the room. So you need to sit relatively close to the speaker - but as they are a 3 way you need a bit of distance for the drivers to integrate so there is a sweet spot re distance from speaker to listener, I would say between 8 to 12 feet. An amp with big or warm bass will sound a bit thick and ploddy with them, so ideally you want to use amplification that is lean and clean, same with the source.
They are nothing like the '66 which you could use as a PA system if you had to. Stay within their limits they are very sweet, almost beguiling in their character.
Anyway that is what I found, they didn't suit me in the end due to my room size and layout. Might be ideal in yours. If not you could certainly move them on at no loss, or even a profit if you wanted to when the market picks up again in the Autumn.
More eBay lunacy. Pioneer PL-112D currently bid up to £256!!! Totally bonkers!!!
Last time I bought one was from a boot sale for £12. Even now I wouldn't value a mint one at more than £50.

That seller is having a good week. His Sony SS-7200 speakers are currently bid up to an astonishing £520 with over a day still to go.
Those Sony's look like cheap cerwin vega boom boxes.

I've had a couple of pairs in the past. A mate still has the last pair. They sound pleasant, but are not exactly the last word in resolution and they suffer a real lack of bass extension for their size, due to the very stiff cone surround and high bass driver resonance. I wouldn't bother with them again. I'd far sooner have a good pair of Magnum K2s or Dovedale IIIs.
another mission 774 tonearm!

Was more interested in the cabinets ......big enough for fettling another set of full rangers :eyebrows: looking for something to do next and might squeeze a set out of your grasp
If anyone sees some bargain speakers on ebay please post on here.
They are to add to a rega RP6 with Ortofon 2M Red/Blue.
A musical Fidelity A3 (the gold plated one, not the newer model).
To run bi-wired on Q.E.D. silver anniversary speaker cable.
Budget is flexible if the item is good value for the outlay.
Thank you all in anticipation.
The Q.E.D. is the white variety, I have been told the black sounds slightly superior, but took that information with a fair amount of scepticism.
What does the membership think to these as a proposition please?
crazy?? £280 for a pair of trents?... I had them twice, love them for what they do with their size but 280?...
