Some Washboard Sam now. Not heard him for a while. More hardcore this. Sam, real name robert brown used to claim to be big bill broonzy's half brother. Bill played along, and they played a lot together.

Some great stuff in this anthology. Ive a few of his old albums, including an original of him and big bill, that cost me an arm and leg many moons ago....like washboard[emoji3]

Saw Champion Jack a few times in Bristol in the late '60s, playing pub venues. Was always 'good value for money' and guaranteed a good night's entertainment.

Apparently Champion Jack decided to make the UK his home after the immigration officer addressed him as "Sir".

Don’t laugh – I have a soft spot for British Blues: Chicken Shack, Savoy Brown, John Mayall, they all got me started with my love of the Blues. So it’s a bit of a nostalgic moment for me.

I think it was Sonny Boy Williamson, who on being asked what he thought of the British Blues interest of the ‘60s, replied “These white boys want to play blues so badly – and boy do they!”. Well he was right, but it is exactly their enthusiasm I admire – and anyway I like Stan Webb’s guitar playing.
