The Garrard 301 Restoration Project PT XCV - She Sings!
Well the new tonearm works and it outputs sonics but it hums like a bugger. I'm knackered and had a long day so this is a problem for another day. I have been looking around the spares bin again and managed to find to N44-7 (SAS/B) JICO stylus which originally was used on my M44 and M55 cartridges so it looks like I won't have to spend any more money with JICO. I'll have to do some experiments tomorrow. Suffice to say I'm very pleased that all the modding has worked and now the fine tuning begins :(.

Glad you enjoy it Charles. The mat is a Tenuto mat from years ago and has had thousands of hours of usage over the last decade. Stay tuned, this project has still got a fare bit of steam left in the tank.Quote:

As far as vintage Garrard decks go, I think the 301 is probably my favourite.
