It would be interesting to know if you think any of your changes are capable of influencing SQ. Or is it just that Moode gives a certain (very good) level of performance and its unfair and unreasonable of us to expect any increases in SQ as it evolves. If that's the case then it makes life much easier for us. Then all we have to do is compare the several music players out there, rather than every updated version of every player.

The nice thing with these "cheap" setups is that you can easily compare them without too much outlay ... I have tried Volumio and Moode and stuck with Moode because it is much easier to use and Tim is a champ at integrating the wishes of his followers. So, basically, in my case I, chose convenience over SQ - if that is even applicable. Both "players" sounded equal to me and I'm sure that the ultimate goal of the devs is to get the signal to the DAC or whatever as pure as possible. I'm not even sure that you could distinguish any SQ difference between two systems that provide bit perfect streams., both sounded excellent to my ears .. but maybe, there will always be someone that hears a difference... tant mieux.. , I don't know...
PS I see that Volumio has updated their player.... my advice, get a good on board DAC and compare... it will cost less than an average standalone DAC and will give you a streamer for free...

its so good at moment that, for the money its a clear winner. it can be bettered, but at cost, and I may not hear it at its best anyway, as my system is not what folk here would call hifi. I would but such is life. Ive not touched 2.6 since I installed it, so dont know what the updates do, or how to do them. It does me fine as is.

yeah, I guess that is what I was trying to say... its so cheap compared to the SQ that the question of 1/10th or so better or worse doesn't even come to mind.... I could understand, if we where talking thousands of pounds but hey,,, these systems are so cheap. They are the fruit of the efforts of the DIY community - software and hardware developers coming together to create something that we all can benefit from. So, give it a try and contribute or donate to the effort.Quote:
