Been playing this a bit the past week or so.
The string symphony and concerto are good and easily accessible.
The organ concerto is a bit of a harder nut to crack. But I'm getting there, and I think the perseverance is worthwhile. It doesn't have the great tunes of Saint-Saens organ symphony, but hell, tunes aren't everything. :)

Johanna Martzy - Beethoven & Mozart Sonatas for Piano & Violin
Bachs violin concertos with Salvatore Accardo caught my attention, but what really got me going is the Peteris Vasks works! They are really powerful!
Ashkenazy's work on Shostakovich is also really enjoyable.
I'll get back on this later, its kinda difficult to seize the moment necessary to grasp the contents of these works.
I suppose its easier when you have more experience?

Elgar Violin concerto - Russian style!
Igor Oistrakh being one of my favourite soloists I really enjoy this. It's a beautiful reading in quite decent sound.

here is a fine romantic symphony that I enjoyed discovering. Full of power and passion and some good tunes. It sounds quite Brahmsian to me. Beethoven in there a lot, as well.

Includes aboriginal instruments as well as a traditional classical orchestra - and why not! *It adds interest and acknowledges 1000s of years of local history.
Interesting and beautiful by turns, often simultaneously.

I have been playing symphonies 1 & 2 by Robert Hermann quite a bit recently - for some reason they have struck a melodic chord with me.
They are rapidly growing in stature as fas as I am concerned - very fine and enjoyable works indeed.
I can't recall now how I first came across them, but I am very glad that I did.

Listening to Shostakovich's 10th string quartet right now (at 3am!). Weller Quartet, London Records. Brilliant piece, brilliant recording.

I really enjoyed Svetlanov in this. Incisive, exciting - exaggerated, jumpy? - yes, sure. A very Soviet Era performance full of incisive modern dance rhythms and squealing trumpets. Not everyone's cuppa, for sure, but I loved it for being different from the normal run of Brahms interpretations.

Fazil Say is a Turkish pianist / composer and these works are full of eastern instruments and sounds.
Quite fascinating. And more than a little different from the normal run of 'classical'.

They are very enjoyable, but I doubt I'll manage the whole cycle in one sitting.

Yehudi Menuhin - as conductor. *Has blown me away over the last few days.
His Vaughan Williams 5th symphony has long been my favourite recording of that masterwork, but somehow I'd never gotten around to his other recordings as conductor.
His Elgar 1s symphony has gone to the top of my preferences, and by no small margin.
His Beethoven 9th symphony is utterly masterful, as is his 2nd. * The others will be addressed soon.
His Mozart symphonies (38 & 39) are superb. *His 40 and 41 are on my Spotify playlist.
What a shame he wasted so many years fighting technical issues with his violin playing! *He should have just got on with his conducting.
I guess his style can be called pure, clean and lean. *No added schmaltzy sentiment, just the music superbly paced and constructed.
Lepo Sumera's 2nd symphony is particularly appealing on first listen. Hmm, actually all three are excellent!
