I went to the liquor store today , the fist picture an isle is probably a lot like Grants Scotch collection.
The last picture is for Marco ,look at the size that wine bottle!
Think they call those a Jeroboam.. Nice one on the lustau. Its quite a nice drop that has grown on me. Not sure if i prefer it tho to the good old 12yr old
That bottle would last Marco at least a couple of days.
had a lustau there and now a glen grant... think i prefer redbreast 12 to the lustau jeff.. it needs a splash of water to calm down a bit.. no idea the age, im guessing its a mix of younger than 12 and maybe a liitle of an older. redbreast 12 is one of my favs tho

ive heard of it; read the story a while ago jeff.. was a bunnahabahin cask bought by some German i remember. half of it was recasked in a herring barrel... most bizarre lol. im not a big lover of bunna so no, ive not looked for itQuote:

Mortlach is although in the Speyside region for whisky, considered to be the beast of distilleries, making powerful chewy whisky... They are one of the few to use worm tubs to give that weightiness to the spirit

I got these today , I really don't like the maple bomb / Lincoln county processed Jack Danial's.
It was better in the 1980's though when it was 90 proof.
People think Evan Williams is a copy of Jack but let me assure you it is not, and I like it better.
I had not tried there Bottled in bond or there Single Barrel vintage so I picked them up today.
Both made by Heaven Hill.
It is very reasonably priced but the quality is very good, according to Ralfy on You Tube.

Not tried any of those Williams ones tmk. I tried their basic that was sold here years ago.

That's s very good price for a high-end 'Super Tuscan', and one of the finest wines Italy produces! You could easily pay twice that or more!! Snap it up folks if you're looking for a beautifully rich and full-bodied red for a special occasion:cheers:

Tonight started with us drinking my Rum Casked high rye whiskey OLD WETT MUTT , I then went to a friends house and brought a bottle of Evan Williams single barrel ,we moved to Winchester bourbon then to a nice XO Brandy. So I've had a few tonight.
So how was the rye?
Rittenhouse straight rye 100proof.
Cinnamon and vanilla custard. Lots of soft spices mingles in palate, and a light spicy lingering finish. Very smooth for 50%

It was Eliga Craig small batch, Buffalo Trace and old Forster's Rye. and it came out a chocolate , cherry bomb , nutty with backing spices.Quote:

Not the best brand I'm sure buy the big 1.5 liter bottles where on sale for $18.00 and at that price I thought it wouldn't hurt to fill the barrel with.
Into a heavyweight today.. Aberlour A'Bunadh.. this is batch 63, and comes out of barrel at a powerhouse 61%, or to Americans, 122 proof.
Spanish Oloroso casks galore and its very much christmas cake time.. tbh it needs a bit of water, but surprisingly not that much.

I put 2 liters of Carlyle in the barrel, To improve on it some.
I got a big jug of blended Islay scotch, as it is no longer imported so it was really,really cheap .
And a bottle of Bottled in Bond Jim Beam.
grant, feel free to comment if you know of these scotches. I know they are the shelf closest the floor but sometimes even budget brands can be very enjoyable.
strathboag(blended) is bottled by macduff international in glasgow(not to be mixed up with macduff distillery in macduff) the madeup word strathboag from the gaelic would be large little valley;) work that out lol..
its made obviously for the foreign market and is apparently smokey and a quite nice drink for the money, or so im told. im guessing the other scotch ones will be similar. sure that a bit longer aging in your tub might even improve them.. i dont like jim beam now.. it was the first bourbon i tried and thought it good til i tried others.

Hazelburn is a non peated offering from Springbank and both highly regarded and thus hard to find.

As I say it's not peated but there is a hint of smoke there which may be off the wood, or there maybe a very small % od smoked barley in it. Some peaches too. Been a while since I tasted it, and have been holding off from opening as its hard to come by..it sells fast as does most Springbank offerings
