Has anyone used this collar with a Audioquest/Jelco PT-7 as it he same problem as the other Jelco arms.
Sorry to disappoint anyone but all the collars are sold now, and I will not be able to get any more made until the end of the year when I return from my 'travels'.

I have commissioned another batch of collars, to coincide with my return to the UK in mid-late October. There will be both natural silver and black anodised versions, as before. Pricing is yet to be confirmed, but should be little different from last time.
For anyone interested, please wait until I confirm that they are ready. It's a bit difficult to keep track of expressions of interest from Camp Bastion (we have other things to deal with at the moment).

Yes, it will fit the LP12, but do bear in mind that it's 5mm taller than the standard Jelco collar (the mounting hole and bolt holes are exactly the same as the standard collar). So, you do need to make sure that there's at least 5mm of clearance between the top of the standard collar, and the bottom of the armreast plate; otherwise you may find that the arm does not go low enough when my collar is fitted. I somehow doubt that's an issue with the LP12, though, since its platter is reasonably tall.Quote:

When my arm & new armboard landed here in August, I had to to resort to a little bodgery on the day, as the supplied 25mill. M4 bolts were too short as the Michell armboard comes in at 20m.m. I can hardly whinge at Jelco for this as most armboards aren't this thick. All I could find locally on the day were some 45m.m. pan head machine screws which work well with the standard collar & I meant to trim them down....when I could be arsed.:) You know how it is Guys, playing music always wins.:smoking:
My one concern is that these may not be a great fit on the new collar, as on the Shuggie collar it looks like the bolt holes are recessed to accept hex head M4 bolts. In the case of getting the new collar I'd really like to be good to go on the day it lands, so if anyone knows whether the supplied bolts are going to be long enough that'd be great, as would anyone who can tell me what precise length/spec I need. I'm guessing 35/38mill sounds abooot reeet. Any links to some suitable/tasty hardware would be great, as other than the usual DIY superstores I have little clue where to start.
I've also just added the Michell armboard de-coupling kit at the same time as I ordered my new armboard.(not doing this would have seemed a missed opportunity) I can't really say how worthwhile this has been, as this was added same day as the arm + my new arm cable & the Oyaide mat only the day before. All I can honestly say is that overall the improvements have been v large over my previous Technoarm & Gyro sans Oyaide mat, & that overall I'm a v happy bunny.
I have though got a decent selection of O' rings & wondered whether using some suitably sized ones when mounting the new collar is likely to have any small benefit?

The bolts that I supply with the collar are 25mm, so you would need something longer. They are M4 cap head stainless steel bolts, available from a number of sellers on a well known internet auction site, but it may be better value for me to simply get you a set of 40mm bolts from my local supplier (AHC in Farnham).

I've just had to tweak my AT33EV/Sumiko headshell today, to get the Azimuth right & although it seems right at two points on an l.p. The fact is I'm likely to be a frequent cart swapper, as I already have another couple of other l.o.m.c. carts ready set up + one awaiting a re-tip & v likely these will be added to in the not so distant. The hit & miss aspect of how the arm pillar can be out of true each & every time you adjust for vta does seem bonkers in what otherwise seems a really nicely engineered product.
I'll pm you once you have posted that you are back & good to go re orders/shipping, but it's a firm yes please from me.

Update: I am now on my way home from my travels 'abroad', so I shall shorty be able to collect the collars from the fabricator, then they have to go off for finishing and anodising. With luck, the collars should be ready, in both natural alloy and black finishes, in a couple of weeks.

In short, the specs are pretty much the same as the standard collar, except for the upper and lower portions being 5mm longer in each direction to give additional support. The collar's radius is 1mm larger than the original (purely to allow for nice recessed cap head bolts). It fits the same armboard hole as the original; also the bolt hole positions are identical. The arm pillar hole is accurately machined to 18mm, but without a cut-out to one side - that tuned out to be unnecessary when the pillar is held securely over a greater part of its length. The M6 setting screw is much bigger than the original and is positioned so that it does not push the arm pillar over like the original collar does so easily. I also supply a small nylon bush that can be inserted, simply to protect the soft Jelco arm pillar from the M6 setting screw.
Mounting bolts supplied are 25mm long M4 in stainless steel. If you need different lengths, I can get whatever is needed from my local supplier for the same price.
Although I have not yet been billed for the machining, I expect the collars to go out at £44 for the UK; £46 for Europe and £47 for the rest of the world. Russian customers may wish to pay extra for UPS/DHL etc if the performance of the Russian Post Office was anything to go by last time!
They will be available in both natural alloy and black anodised finishes.

Perfect. So please put me on the list for a natural alloy finish. I assume that fits best to the gray 401 deck and the original gray Jelco collar/arm base. Mounting bolts maybe a bit longer (40mm) since the original 25mm bolts just fit in my deck. However I assume we can discuss that later.

Mine too, I really am pleased as punch. A nice bonus is it's actually a nicer visual match with my T.T. + it's also obviously much better engineered than the original item. Tried it with both my front line carts so far & just need to check the AT F3iii Jelco h/shell combo later on.

Mine arrived at work this morning.
Very happy with them, well made, well engineered and well finished - can't ask for more really :)
The collars have a diameter of circa 58mm, the hole in the armboard I have (from sound supports) is 56mm, so a bit of work with a flap wheel in the cutout of the armboard tomorrow will have it all ship shape.
This is not a criticism of either component - it is just a fact of life - I want the collar to sit flat on the board - not 3mm above it on a tiny bit of circumferential 1mm either side of aluminium.
I am happy to say that both of the items I have are exceptionally well designed and made :clap:
I wonder if Sound Supports would modify their Jelco armboard design a touch, to accommodate my collar as well as the standard one, if I asked nicely? It's worth an e-mail!Quote:

Thanks for your kind comments - the collar's increased overall diameter was one of those little design changes necessary to accommodate some really nice cap head bolts, which do look nice when the collar is fitted. The SS armboard is the only one that requires any modification before my collar will fit.

Made myself a jig to hold both the parts while I re-linnished them by hand with 800grit w&d paper. This is because I want a finer linnish than supplied and I'm also going to have them anodised black.

Put them back together, carefully put everything into place and there you have it - they do fit - albeit with less than .5mm to spare!

If Sound Supports would care to adjust the size of the mounting ring and move their three bolt holes out by 1 - 2mm then everything would be dandy. My guess is this would be easy to achieve as it "looks" to me like the items are made on a C/A turret punch, so just a few numbers need changing.
I'm happy with my results so far :)
As an 'aside' getting to the locking screw is still possible - just! you would not want the collar any lower or the top plate any thicker.
