Yes I've bought a few items off eBay where the seller has mentioned this thread in correspondence even though they don't appear to be members here.
They never fix their spelling, grammar or over-pricing when it is pointed out; but just mention that something is underpriced and they are straight on the job
I might put an offer in. Does £17 sound about right? :D
Geoff, regarding the previously mentioned CS-77, do you know the Pioneer CS-66 speakers? They should be of the same gen and I could get my hands in 2 pairs of those but I'm a bit doubtful of their real value, sound and price wise.
The pioneer CS-66 were quite expensive in the UK in the early seventies, costing nearly as much as a pair of Quad electrostatics.
It looks a simple enough design. 10" main driver in a sealed cabinet:

I'd imagine they sound decent enough. Don't be put off by the cone tweeter. The Japs made some rather good sounding ones. I reckon these would be worth having at a sensibly modest price. The sensitivity should be high, so they'd probably work nicely on just a few watts and may suit a valve amp well. I personally reckon they might be worth £80?
PM on your way, cheers!
If you're anywhere near Kent these Radfords may be worth a look. One day left:

I spotted these earlier this week and the missus and I were having a giggle over the name of the village where they are located. I lived in Kent for 20 years and I've not heard of it, must be down in the south of the county as I know North Kent very well. Interesting speakers :)

It's just south of Maidstone according to Streetmap:

Yes, they were mentioned here a few days ago and as I had a vague interest in possibly buying them I checked the location.
(not bothering now. Other speaker plans afoot, which may result in a DIY thread)
Wonder if they work ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Pi...item540f678347
"they didn't sound too good the last time I heard them" doesn't really inspire confidence... They look a bit tricky to re-foam.
Poor titles considering the power amplifiers are included...

Even if its all knackered the Onkyo would sell for that alone spares/repairs.
No, they're pleated doped paper. Looking closer at the pictures I can see why they didn't sound right. There's a split running round the surround pleat on both units, probably been overdriven. Easy to fix with a bit of care. Might be worth having? Maybe at a rather lower price though.
Braun PS 500 tt. Very nice looking deck - rare too. Is it as good as looks?

The same seller is also selling my favourite inexpensive Japanese dd :)

Neighbouring Boughton Monchelsea is also very nice.Quote:

Bit of a bargain for anyone local: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sony-Hi-Fi...item2ed6625e86
Won a pair of Kef Chorales last night for £38. Wanting them just for the T27s really. Listed as faulty with the cabinets marked. Also got some Sony APM 700s recently for £3! Need surrounds. Gonna have a go at making some.
Nice little valve amp:

Well, my "Geoff's Special" (Toshiba SR 370) has arrived. Looking at the packaging doubts started to form. And they were realized when it was opened. All the feet smashed, one side of the cover cracked (platter taped in place and came adrift. Not sure why it has to be such a problem to put a platter under a deck when posting it.) and two of the four front edges chipped. Luckily it was the bottom set so less obvious. Went over it with Duraglit which took the newness off the chipped areas and cleaned it up. It was listed as having a speed stability problem and when I looked inside found a pretty basic single transistor regulator, which I'll rebuild.
Nice platter. Thought it might have weighed a bit more.
Shame about the damage Stephen. It's worth getting it running though.
I nearly bid on it myself. I even messaged the guy to ask him if he could pack it safely and pointed out that I'd want the lid and turntable spindle protected. His reply was not encouraging. Suggesting it would be "at the mercy of the carriers".
I was going to do the same Geoff, but I thought he might have used a bit of common sense. I can replace the feet and could have a go at the corners but the damaged lid is nothing I can do about. I suppose it could have been worse.
I like the simplicity of styling it has. And as you have one, thought it must be pretty reasonable. Looking on the 'net I found it said to compare to an SP10 MK I. Don't remember what Haden B. had to say about it in Hi Fi World.
I have a missing foot on my spare one. I may resurrect/refurb it sometime, the feet should be easy to replace with something else and the hefty plinth will spray up nicely. Hope you get yours sorted.
Who is this twat, Geoff?
Name and shame, I say, so in future we can all avoid him (or her) like the plague… If you’re going to sell kit and receive payment for it, then bloody well do your ABSOLUTE BEST to ensure that it gets to the person you’ve sold it to in one piece!!
Lazy, waste of space fuckers…. :steam:
Marco.
Yep - too many people blame it on the carriers when the real cause of the damage is they were too idle to pack the bloody thing properly in the first place.
'The couriers have played football with it' - no they haven't but neither have they treated it like it was a Faberge egg due to be presented to the Queen - because they are sorting thousands of parcels and yours is no more important than anyone else's. So get the effing bubble wrap out and do a proper job.
Indeed… I think Stephen’s taking it all rather well. I’d be losing the plot!
Marco.
If Stephen is hanging onto the TT, I'd suggest he asks for a part refund at least. Say 40% or 50%. The damage warrants it. He can send the guy photos of the damage via the eBay messaging facility.
Too right. You need to mark the cards of tossers like that, just in case they might learn from the errors of their ways in future! Yeah right….
Marco.
It should be the sellers responsibility to have insured it and ebay will refund if he does not and take it out of his ass.... If you arranged the courier then it would be your responsibility.

eBay seems to have problems at the moment. I was after some printer ink and keep getting 'page unavailable' messages whilst searching. Sunday is their maintenance day I believe, maybe some site functions are disabled temporarily.
